How to Get Logging Site II: Level 43 and Materials
Logging Site II in Palworld: the level 43 Ancient Technology cost, all four build materials and where to farm each one, how its Hardwood output compares to the base Logging Site, and the best Lumbering Pals to fill its three worker slots.

Logging Site II is the level 43 Ancient Technology that turns Hardwood from a thing you hunt into a thing your base produces. This guide covers the 3 Ancient Technology Points it costs, all four build materials and the fastest way to farm each, how its output speed compares to the original Logging Site, and which Lumbering Pals are worth its three worker slots.
Logging Site II at a Glance
Two things separate this from every other base upgrade at its level. First, it does not cost regular technology points at all — it is an Ancient node, so you pay in Ancient Technology Points, the same currency as the Ore Mining Site II and the Coal Quarry. Second, the recipe asks for 100 Hardwood before it will make you any, which is the single biggest hurdle in the build and the reason most players hit level 43 long before they actually place one.

How to Unlock Logging Site II
Reach character level 43 and spend 3 Ancient Technology Points in the technology tree. Ancient points never come from levelling — the only way to get them is the Ancient Technical Manual, which drops from every enemy camp boss stash in the Snowfields, on Sakurajima and on Sunreach Isle at a flat 100%, 1 to 3 copies a clear. That makes them farmable but slow, so the order you spend them in matters. Logging Site II is the only Ancient node at level 43, so nothing on the tree is competing with it at that exact moment. What is competing is everything you skipped: the Ore Mining Site II at level 39 costs the same 3 points and automates a resource that is heavier and more annoying to haul than wood.
| Ancient node | Level | Ancient points | Take it before or after? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 37 | 5 | Before — coal gates Refined Ingots, which gate your whole gear tier | |
| 39 | 3 | Before — ore is the heaviest resource to move by hand | |
| 43 | 3 | Here — the first automated Hardwood in the game | |
| 46 | 5 | After — only matters once you are burning ammo | |
| 50 | 4 | After — but it is mandatory the moment you go electric | |
| 52 | 5 | After — Pal Metal tier and beyond |
If you are short on Ancient points, the full breakdown of technology and Ancient point sources lists every chest and boss that hands them out. The complete technology list is worth a scroll too — knowing that levels 46 through 52 want another 14 Ancient points changes how freely you spend the ones you have now.
All Build Materials and Where to Get Them
Four materials, and they are wildly uneven. The Stone and Paldium Fragment are rounding errors at this stage of the game, and the 5 Ancient Civilization Parts are a single alpha kill. The 100 Hardwood is the entire build. Plan around that number and the rest takes care of itself.
| Material | Qty | Fastest route | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | Kill Wumpo Botan or buy it at 100 Gold a unit | The real cost — 10,000 Gold if you buy all of it | |
| 50 | Any rock, or a Stone Pit you almost certainly already have | Trivial | |
| 20 | 711 Paldium Ore nodes on the map, or dismantle spare spheres | Trivial | |
| 5 | One alpha Pal — every alpha drops them at a 100% rate | One fight |
Hardwood: 100 Needed
Hardwood is described in-game as timber taken from trees grown in harsh climates — deserts, volcanic ground and snowfields — and it behaves nothing like ordinary Wood, which you can pull off any of the 4,654 lumber nodes scattered across the island. There are exactly four Pals that drop it, all four at a 100% rate, and four merchant families that stock it. Since a Logging Site II needs 100 of it and you cannot build the thing that automates it until you have already gathered it by hand, the fastest path is usually a mix: farm the Pals you were going to fight anyway, and buy the shortfall.
| Source | Hardwood per kill | Where | Level |
|---|---|---|---|
Wumpo Botan | 2–5 | 83 spawn spots — show on the map | 38–80 |
Palumba | 2–4 | 42 spawn spots — show on the map | 32–50 |
Mossanda | 1–3 | 52 spawn spots — show on the map | 27–80 |
Mossanda Lux | 1–3 | 40 spawn spots — show on the map | 31–80 |
Wumpo Botan is the pick on two counts: it has the best yield at 2 to 5 per kill, the most spawn spots of the four, and it is itself a Lumbering Lv. 5 worker — so the ones you capture instead of killing go straight into the building you are farming for. Buying is the boring answer but it is a real one. Hardwood sells at 100 Gold in the Village Shop, the Desert Shop, the Volcano Shop and from Wandering Traders, which puts a full 100-unit stack at 10,000 Gold. If you have been selling off dungeon loot, that is a single shopping trip instead of an evening of hunting.
Ancient Civilization Parts: 5 Needed
This is the easiest requirement in the recipe and people still overestimate it. Ancient Civilization Parts come off alpha Pals at a flat 100% drop rate, and the amount scales with how tough the alpha is — the late-game ones hand over 7 to 9 at a time. You need 5. One alpha, once, and you are done. Pick one near your level rather than the biggest one you can name; the table below runs from comfortable to punishing.
| Alpha | Level | Parts dropped | Why this one |
|---|---|---|---|
Grizzbolt | 30 | 4–5 | Lowest-level alpha here — one kill nearly covers the whole 5 |
Verdash | 35 | 4–6 | Fast, squishy, and a great Handiwork Lv. 5 catch on the side |
Mammorest | 38 | 5–6 | Slow and telegraphed — the safest single kill that covers all 5 |
Elizabee | 39 | 5–6 | Also a Lv. 4 Planting, Handiwork and Gathering worker if you capture it |
Dualith | 55 | 7–9 | Covers the requirement outright and is a Lumbering Lv. 5 worker |
Celesdir | 65 | 7–8 | Overkill for this build, but it is the Lumbering Lv. 7 Pal you want anyway |
There is a neat overlap worth planning around: several of the alphas that drop the most parts are the same Pals you want staffing the finished building. Beat Dualith at level 55 and you walk away with the parts for the Logging Site II and, if you brought spheres, a Lumbering Lv. 5 worker to put in it. The full alpha Pal list has every location and level if you want to plan a route.
Stone and Paldium: The Easy Half
Fifty Stone and twenty Paldium Fragment will not slow anyone down at level 43, but there is no reason to gather either by hand. A Stone Pit costs 2 regular points at level 7 and produces Stone forever with a Mining Pal on it, and Paldium comes back every time you dismantle a sphere you no longer need. If you are gathering manually, the map has the node counts.
| Material | Need | Map nodes | Best route |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 8,157 boulders + 4,286 small rocks | Show every rock node on the map — or just let a Stone Pit run | |
| 20 | 711 | Show every Paldium Ore node on the map — the blue-glowing veins near water |
What Logging Site II Actually Does
Place it, assign Pals with Lumbering, and it produces Hardwood on a loop with no power line and no fuel. The number that matters is the work per cycle: 8,000, against 800 for the base Logging Site's Wood. That is a tenfold gap for a material that is worth ten times as much at a merchant, so the exchange rate is honest — but it also means a low-level Lumbering Pal will crawl on this station in a way it never did on the old one. Worker quality stops being optional here.
One quirk worth knowing before a raid: both logging sites are wooden structures, unlike the stone mining pits, and they can catch fire. Putting one out takes 1,000 work from your Pals, which is time nobody is spending on logging. If your base sits somewhere that attracts Fire-element raids, keep it away from the perimeter.
| Spec | Logging Site II | Logging Site |
|---|---|---|
| Produces | Hardwood | Wood |
| Technology level | 43 | 7 |
| Cost | 3 Ancient Technology Points | 2 regular technology points |
| Materials | 100 Hardwood, 50 Stone, 20 Paldium Fragment, 5 Ancient Civilization Parts | 50 Wood, 20 Stone, 10 Paldium Fragment |
| Work per cycle | 8,000 | 800 |
| Worker slots | 3 | 3 |
| Lumbering required | Lv. 1 | Lv. 1 |
| Power draw | None | None |
| Structure HP | 10,000 | 10,000 |
| Flammable | Yes — wooden build | Yes — wooden build |
For scale against the rest of your base, 8,000 work per cycle puts Logging Site II in the same bracket as the Coal Quarry and the Sulfur Quarry, both also 8,000. It is faster per unit than the Pure Quartz Quarry at 10,000 and far faster than the Hexolite Quartz Mine at 20,000. Hardwood is a mid-tier automated resource, not a trickle.
Best Pals to Staff Logging Site II
Sixty-three Pals have Lumbering and exactly one of them, Celesdir Noct, reaches the maximum Lv. 8. The station only demands Lv. 1, but that requirement is a floor, not a recommendation — with 8,000 work standing between you and each unit of Hardwood, the suitability level is what decides whether this thing feels automated or feels broken. Fill all three slots with the highest Lumbering you own and leave the Lv. 1 and Lv. 2 Pals for hauling.
| Pal | Lumbering | Other jobs | Why it works |
|---|---|---|---|
Celesdir Noct | 8 | Gathering 4 | The only Lv. 8 Lumbering Pal in the game — a level 79 alpha with no wild spawns, so it is a trophy hire |
Celesdir | 7 | Gathering 4 | The realistic best-in-slot: 1,613 spawn spots at levels 54 to 80, and it drops 7–8 Ancient Civilization Parts as an alpha |
Hartalis | 7 | Gathering 7 | Ties for the best obtainable Lumbering and adds Gathering 7 — but it has no wild spawn spots anywhere on the map |
Cryolinx Terra | 6 | Mining 5, Transporting 4, Handiwork 2 | 156 spawn spots at levels 56 to 64 and it covers a mining pit on its days off |
Bastigor | 6 | Cooling 8, Mining 5 | Lv. 6 logger and the game's only Lv. 8 chiller — brilliant, but usually too valuable to park here |
Necromus | 6 | Mining 6 | Level 60 alpha, no other job competing for it, and a great mount besides |
Dualith | 5 | Mining 6, Transporting 6, Planting 3, Gathering 3 | 75 spawn spots and the best all-round base body on this list — Lv. 5 here, Lv. 6 in the mines |
Wumpo Botan | 5 | Transporting 6, Handiwork 3, Planting 3 | Catchable from level 38, drops Hardwood itself, and hauls at Lv. 6 — the best early answer |
Wumpo | 5 | Transporting 6, Cooling 5, Handiwork 3 | Same idea as Botan with Cooling instead of Planting; 53 spawn spots from level 41 |
Mossanda | 4 | Transporting 4, Planting 3, Handiwork 2 | Available from level 27 — the first Pal most players can staff a logging site with properly |
If you only have one strong logger, put it here rather than on the old Logging Site — an 800-work Wood cycle finishes fast enough that a mediocre Pal barely hurts, while the 8,000-work Hardwood cycle punishes every missing suitability level. The full Lumbering ranking lists all 63 Pals if you want to check what you have already caught.
Is It Worth 3 Ancient Points?
Yes, but not first. Ancient Technology Points are the one currency you cannot farm, and the mining nodes below it on the tree unblock progression more directly — Coal Quarry feeds Refined Ingots, and Refined Ingots feed every gun and armour piece between levels 35 and 50. Hardwood, by contrast, is a materials cost you can pay in Gold at any merchant. Buy Logging Site II once your gear is sorted and you notice Hardwood showing up in every recipe you want — around the point where you unlock the Advanced Workshop and start stacking High Quality Wooden Boards — rather than the moment the node lights up.
There is one thing above it, and it is a long way above: the level 78 Ancient Material Synthesizer also runs Lumbering work, and it demands Lv. 6 workers to do it. That puts it out of reach for most of the run, which leaves Logging Site II as the ceiling for automated Hardwood for roughly 35 levels of play.
Summary
Short version: hit character level 43, spend 3 Ancient Technology Points, and bring 100 Hardwood, 50 Stone, 20 Paldium Fragment and 5 Ancient Civilization Parts. The parts are one alpha kill; the Hardwood is the whole job, and it comes from Wumpo Botan, Palumba and the Mossanda pair, or at 100 Gold a unit from four different shops. Then fill all three slots with the best Lumbering Pals you own — the station accepts Lv. 1, but 8,000 work per cycle means the level is the difference between a Hardwood supply and a Hardwood trickle.
