How to Get Dimensional Pal Storage and How to Use It
Everything Dimensional Pal Storage costs in Palworld: the level 20 Ancient technology unlock and 2 Ancient Technology Points, all 20 Ingot, 40 Paldium Fragment and 5 Ancient Civilization Parts, the fastest low-level alphas to farm those Parts, and how guild-shared Pal storage actually works.

Dimensional Pal Storage is the base build that gives your whole guild a shared Pal box, so nobody has to stand at the one Palbox waiting their turn — and it flips to private if you just want more room for yourself. This guide covers the level it unlocks at, the 2 Ancient Technology Points it eats, all three materials with the fastest way to farm the awkward one, and how it compares to the Global Palbox you already own.
Dimensional Pal Storage at a Glance
It sits in the Pal tab of the build menu, one slot along from the Palbox and the Global Palbox. Two numbers set it apart from its neighbours. The first is the build workload: 20,000, which is twenty times what the Palbox and the Global Palbox each ask for and heavy enough to put it among the 82 sturdiest builds out of the 498 in the game. The second is the 5 Ancient Civilization Parts, which are 40% of its gold value on their own and the only line you cannot buy. Everything else about it is friendly: no power draw, no assigned worker, no work suitability at all.

How to Unlock Dimensional Pal Storage
Reach character level 20, open the Palworld Technology Tree and spend 2 points — but they are Ancient Technology Points, not the ordinary ones you collect every level. Those come from clearing the game's 10 tower bosses, with Ancient Technical Manuals from dungeon boss chests topping you up in between. There are 51 Ancient technologies in the game and 185 Ancient points to buy them all, so this pool stays tight for a very long time and every purchase is a real decision.
The awkward part is the timing. Nine Ancient technologies are on the board by level 20 and they want 15 points between them, and the one directly before this is the Breeding Farm at level 19 for the same 2 points. If you only have 2 spare, take the Breeding Farm first — it starts producing Pals, while storage only helps once you already have too many. Come back for Dimensional Pal Storage the moment your box starts filling up, which for most players is a level or two later anyway.
| Ancient technology | Level | Ancient points | Why you'd take it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 1 | Non-negotiable — nothing hatches without it | |
| Grappling Gun | 12 | 1 | Changes how you move around Palpagos entirely |
| 14 | 2 | Starts the long game of upgrading your keepers | |
| 15 | 2 | Cheap quality of life for caves and night runs | |
Lockpicking Tool v1 | 16 | 1 | Opens the locked chests you keep walking past |
| Grappling Gun 2 | 17 | 2 | Longer reach, same 2-point price as storage |
| 18 | 2 | Stops you killing the alpha you meant to catch | |
| 19 | 2 | The one to take before storage — it makes Pals | |
| 20 | 2 | Guild-shared Pal box, and far more room |
Dimensional Pal Storage Materials
Three lines, and only one of them is a real errand. The 20 Ingot and 40 Paldium Fragment are things a level 20 base is already producing in bulk — traced back to what you dig up, the whole build is 40 Ore, 40 Paldium Fragment and the Parts. The 5 Ancient Civilization Parts are the gate, because none of the 12 merchants on the map stock them and there is no recipe that makes them. You get Parts by fighting things.
| Material | Qty | Where it comes from | Value each |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | Furnace — 2 Ore per bar, so 40 Ore total | 240 | |
| 40 | Mined from Paldium Ore nodes — 711 of them on the map | 70 | |
| 5 | Alpha and boss Pals only. No recipe, no merchant sells them | 1,000 |
Ancient Civilization Parts ×5
Here is the thing most players do not realise: every single one of the 288 Pals in the game drops Ancient Civilization Parts at a 100% rate from its boss version. There is no luck involved and no specific Pal you have to hunt. What changes is the payout, which runs from 1 up to 8-9 depending on the Pal, so the trick is picking a fight that hands over the most per trip. The 90 fixed Alpha Pal spawns run from level 11 to level 79, and ten of them are at or below level 20 — every one of those ten covers a decent chunk of the 5 you need.
Foxcicle is the standout by a mile. It is a level 15 alpha that pays 6-8 Parts a kill, which means one fight finishes the entire build with change left over, while the other level 15 alphas hand you 3-4. The catch is that it only takes 24% of incoming damage, the toughest defensive rate in this bracket — bring Fire and it stops mattering. If you would rather punch down, the three level 11 alphas take 48% damage and still give 2-4 each, so two of them get you there.
| Alpha | Lv. | Parts per kill | Damage it takes | Bring this element |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Foxcicle | 15 | 6-8 | 24% | Fire — one kill covers all 5 Parts |
Penking | 15 | 3-4 | 24% | Fire, Electric or Grass all hurt it |
Arsox | 15 | 3-4 | 24% | Water |
Foxparks Cryst | 15 | 3-4 | 24% | Fire |
Grintale | 17 | 3-4 | 24% | Dark |
Nitewing | 18 | 3-4 | 48% | Dark — and it doubles as an early flying mount |
Dumud | 14 | 3-4 | 48% | Electric or Grass |
Chillet | 11 | 2-4 | 48% | Fire or Ice |
Gumoss | 11 | 2-4 | 48% | Fire |
Sweepa | 11 | 2-4 | 48% | Fire |
Ingot ×20 and Paldium Fragment ×40
This half is a single mining trip. Each Ingot is 2 Ore in a furnace, so 20 bars is 40 Ore, and there are 1,632 ore nodes scattered across Palpagos — pull them all up on the interactive map if your usual spot is picked clean. The 40 Paldium Fragment come off 711 Paldium Ore nodes, or from the merchants at 70 Gold each, which makes the entire fragment line a 2,800 Gold purchase if you are in a hurry.
Neither material is worth a special trip at this level. Park a mining crew at a base sitting on ore, let the furnace run, and the 12,600 Gold of materials assembles itself while you go and find the alpha for the Parts. See the best base locations and their node counts if your current camp has nothing under it.
How to Use Dimensional Pal Storage
Place it anywhere inside a base's build radius — it cannot go out in the wild the way a Palbox can, because it does not create a base, it just lives in one. Once it is up, interact with it and you get a large Pal container that every member of your guild can deposit into and withdraw from. That is the whole point of it in co-op: instead of queueing behind whoever is currently reorganising the Palbox, everyone has a shared pool to pull workers and mounts out of.
A few rules worth knowing before you spend the points:
- Flip it to private and it stops being guild-shared, becoming personal overflow storage instead. Solo players build it for exactly this.
- There is no limit on how many you can put in one base. Only a handful of builds are capped at one — the Palbox, the Summoning Altar, the Guild Chest and the Pal Expedition Station among them — and this is not one of them.
- It deteriorates, so it takes slow damage over time like most furniture and wants an occasional repair. The Palbox itself never degrades.
- It cannot be built in a raid boss area, so it plays no part in raid arena setups.
- No power, no worker slot, nothing to assign. Once it is standing, it is done.
Dimensional Pal Storage vs Palbox and Global Palbox
All four Pal-management builds live in the same tab and people mix them up constantly, mostly because three of them have "box" in the name. They solve completely different problems. The Palbox defines a base and is hard-capped at one per base, so it is never the answer to "I need more room". The Global Palbox stores Pals as data you can carry to other worlds — that is transfer, not capacity. Dimensional Pal Storage is the only one of the three that is genuinely about space and sharing, and the Palbox Control Device is not storage at all, just a remote terminal for the Palbox you already have.
| Build | Tech Lv. | Points | Materials | What it actually does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | 2 Ancient | 20 Ingot, 40 Paldium Fragment, 5 Ancient Civilization Parts | Large guild-shared Pal storage, or private overflow. No cap per base | |
| 2 | — | 1 Paldium Fragment, 8 Wood, 3 Stone | Creates the base and heals stored Pals. Exactly one per base | |
| 3 | 1 | 3 Paldium Fragment, 5 Wood, 15 Stone | Stores Pals as data you can move between worlds and saves | |
| 32 | 3 | 20 Ingot, 30 Paldium Fragment | Remote terminal for the Palbox. Stores nothing itself |
Best Pals to Build It Fast
20,000 workload is a lot to hand a base that is still running rank 1 Handiwork Pals, and it is the single biggest reason this build feels slow compared to everything else in the Pal tab. Fifty-eight Pals in the game carry Handiwork rank 3 or better, but almost all of them are late-game catches — the realistic picks at level 20 are the five below. Elizabee at rank 4 is the best of the early bunch and worth chasing for every other build you make afterwards, while Hangyu Cryst is the easy one you will actually own at this level.
| Pal | Handiwork | Why bring it |
|---|---|---|
Elizabee | 4 | Best early-game builder, and it also mines and gathers |
Loupmoon Cryst | 4 | Same rank 4 rating, and a genuine fighter you can ride out with |
Hangyu Cryst | 3 | The realistic pick at level 20 — small, common and quick to get |
Vaelet | 3 | Fixed alpha spawn at level 27, so you know exactly where to find one |
Lovander | 3 | Rank 3 Handiwork plus Medicine Production for your base |
Anubis | 6 | The long-term answer. Everything you build after this goes up faster |
Is It Worth 2 Ancient Technology Points?
In co-op, yes, immediately — a shared Pal pool is the difference between a guild that trades workers freely and four players elbowing each other at one Palbox. Solo, it is a level or two early: at 20 you are still catching your first proper team, and the points are better spent on the Breeding Farm one level below. Once your box is full and you are deleting Pals to make room, this is the cheapest fix in the game — 40 Ore, 40 Paldium Fragment and one alpha kill. The Parts are the only genuine cost, and Foxcicle settles that in a single fight.
