List of All Rare Pals: Rarity Tiers and How to Get Them — Palworld Database

Every one of Palworld's 288 Pals carries a rarity rating, and 73 of them sit at 8 or higher — the band players mean when they say rare Pal. Rarity isn't just a label either: it lines up almost perfectly with how a Pal is gated, whether that's a fixed field boss, a raid altar, a single cavern, or a spawn pool so small you can count the points on two hands. This guide breaks the roster down tier by tier, tells you exactly where each rare Pal comes from, and flags the ones you can never hatch at home.

What Counts as a Rare Pal

The roster splits into five clean bands. The bottom half of the Paldex — everything under rarity 8 — is made up of Pals with big, forgiving spawn pools; the median Pal in the game has around 100 spawn points scattered across the map, so you trip over one eventually. From rarity 8 up, that stops being true: those 73 Pals are mostly alphas, tower and raid bosses, sanctuary residents, or species crammed into one corner of the world. The nine at rarity 10 and the eight at 20 are effectively the endgame collection checklist.

Every Rarity 20 Pal

Eight Pals share the top rating, but they don't share a source. Six of them are fixed field bosses that carry the Legend passive — a flat +20% Attack, +20% Defense and +20% movement speed you can't roll on anything wild — and all six double as mounts, which is why Jetragon and Frostallion end up in almost every endgame team. The other two are the Bellanoir pair, which never appear in the world at all: you summon them at a raid altar with a slab. If you're picking a first target, Paladius and Necromus are the efficient trip, since one desert spawn point gives you both fights and both drop tables.

The 9 Pals at Rarity 10

This is the strangest tier in the game, because the nine Pals in it come from five completely different systems. Three are raid-altar summons, three are tower boss species, and three you can genuinely walk up to and catch — though Shadowbeak and Menasting Terra have only 11 spawn points each, which is about as thin as wild spawns get. Anubis is the one worth going out of your way for early: 35 spawn points plus a level 55 alpha, a Ground-element damage boost baked in, and a drop table that hands you Ground Radiant Gems and Gorgeous Ancient Relics by the stack.

Rarest Pals You Can Actually Catch in the Wild

Rarity ratings tell you how special a Pal is; spawn points tell you how long you'll be looking. These are the thinnest wild spawn pools among rare-band Pals, and the gap is brutal — Dualith Noct has three spawn points in the entire game, all of them on the World Tree, against a roster median of about 100. Sort your hunt by this list rather than by rarity: Broncherry Aqua and Warsect are only rarity 8 but take longer to track down than plenty of rarity 9s, and several rows here double as alpha spawns, which is usually the faster way to get one since alphas sit in one fixed place forever.

Pals You Can Only Get as a Field Boss

Sixteen species have zero wild spawn points and exist only as a fixed alpha marker, so there is no grinding the overworld for them — you fly to one pin, win one fight, and either catch it there or come back after it respawns. Four of them are World Tree alphas in the high 70s and they're the hardest fights on this list, while Kingpaca at level 23 is the one you can clear long before your gear is ready for the rest. Because each is a single fixed point, they're also the most farmable rare Pals in the game: the spawn never moves, so a cleared alpha is a repeatable loot run.

Dungeon-Only Pals

Three Pals skip the open world entirely and only appear inside caverns, which makes them easy to miss for hundreds of hours. Mau is the famous one — a rarity 1 Pal that most players never catch simply because it lives underground, and it pays 100–200 Gold per kill on a 50% roll with a Gold Digger partner skill that keeps earning after you box it. Katress Ignis takes the boss chamber in its cavern, so a single run is a guaranteed encounter rather than a rolled spawn. Eidrolon is the odd one out: it holds the only Pal slot in Sunreach Skies, and it's also a level 69 alpha, so you can skip the cavern entirely if you'd rather fight it once.

Rare Variant Pals and How to Breed Them

84 of the 288 Pals are variant forms — the alternate-element versions that share a Paldex number with their base and add a letter suffix, like Jormuntide Ignis or Frostallion Noct. They look like the hardest things on the roster to obtain, but 81 of the 84 have their own dedicated breeding recipe, which makes them the *easiest* rare Pals to farm: you don't hunt them, you pair them. The recipes below all use one base Pal plus a specific partner, and none of them care about combi rank, so the result is fixed every time.

The 28 Pals That Never Come From a Mixed Pair

Breeding two different Pals normally lands you on whatever species sits nearest the average of their combi ranks — but 28 Pals are excluded from that pool entirely. Pair anything with anything and these will never pop out; the only egg that produces one is two of the same species, which means you have to catch your first one the hard way. The six Legend-passive field bosses and four of the five raid bosses already have their own rows further up, so here are the other 18, each with the one route that actually works. Note how many of them are tower boss species with a wild population — you can't catch the boss in the tower, but you can catch its wild cousins.

Mimog: the Hardest Catch in the Game

On paper Mimog should be the easiest rare Pal to find — it has 5,302 spawn points, more than double the next Pal on the list. In practice it's the hardest catch in Palworld, because it has the lowest capture rate of all 288 Pals at 0.8, it always flees instead of fighting, and it runs at 2,000 — second only to Panthalus among every Pal in the game. Land your sphere and the payout is unmatched: 8,500–11,000 Gold, 170–250 Dog Coins and a Training Manual (XL) on every kill, plus a 10× EXP yield, which is why it's the backbone of any serious gold farming route. Freeze or slow it the instant it appears, because a Mimog that gets a head start is gone.

Xenogard and Xenovader: the Base-Invasion Rares

These two never appear on the map at all — the only place they show up is the third wave of a Snowfields base invasion, always at level 23–26 no matter how strong the herd is. That means a rarity 9 Pal is gated behind where you chose to build, and the higher-grade herds simply send more of them, so a Snowfields base is a genuine farming tool rather than a nuisance. Both carry Otherworldly Cells (+10% Attack, 15% Fire and Lightning damage reduction), and both drop Meteorite Fragments — Xenogard pays 5–12 per kill against Xenovader's 3–10.

TipRare Pals are alphas or bosses almost by definition, and those fights ignore your usual sphere routine — bring the highest-tier spheres you can craft, chip the target to a sliver, and check the odds on the capture rate calculator before you burn a stack. And don't confuse rarity with looks: the flower-crowned Gumoss that occasionally turns up around the Windswept Hills coast is a cosmetic one-off, identical to any other Gumoss on the stat sheet.
