Cold Resistant Pal Metal Armor Schematic Location and Stats — Palworld Database

Cold Resistant Pal Metal Armor unlocks at Technology Lv 50 and is the piece that carries you through the back half of the Snowfields — 250 defence, 750 HP, and 10,000 durability, which is more than triple what the Refined Metal tier gives you. This guide covers the full stat card, the awkward truth that no Pal in the game drops the Legendary schematic, the eight places that do stock it, and exactly what 30 Pal Metal Ingot and 5 Cryogenic Coolant trace back to in raw materials.

Cold Resistant Pal Metal Armor Stats

The headline is 250 defence — 30 more than the plain Pal Metal Armor it sits above, for the same 750 HP and double the durability. That durability line is the one to notice: 5,000 to 10,000 is the biggest single-step jump anywhere in the cold armor ladder, and it means you stop hauling repair kits on long snow runs. The resistance package is Cold 2, Heat 1 and an Ice damage reduction, the same combination every cold-resistant body armor from Tech Lv 9 to Tech Lv 54 carries. The one genuine downside is weight: at 40 it is the heaviest cold armor in the game, five more than every tier above and below it.

Armor defence only means anything against other armor, so read 250 against the rest of the body slot rather than against a weapon's attack number. In its own class it lands exactly where the tech tree puts it: well above Cold Resistant Refined Metal Armor at 180, well below Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor at 400. Its mirror is Heat Resistant Pal Metal Armor — an identical 250/750/10,000 stat line with Heat 2 in place of Cold 2, unlocking two levels earlier at Tech 48. You only need both if you're bouncing between the volcano and the snow in the same session, and the heat one is the easier build because it spends 16 Flame Organs instead of asking you to craft coolant.

Where the Legendary Schematic Drops

Here's the thing that decides how you farm this one: no Pal drops it. Not an Alpha, not a tower boss, not a raid. Only five armor schematics in the whole game come off a Pal's loot table, and this line isn't one of them, so there's no repeatable 3% kill to grind. What you get instead is the widest world-loot spread of any cold armor line — supply drops in two regions plus six separate chest, camp, dig and fishing pools, all of them in the Snowfields and Sakurajima.

Schematic 2Rare2.0%2.0%None
Schematic 3Epic0.4%0.4%None
Schematic 4Legendary0.08%0.08%None

The supply-drop column falls by about a fifth per tier, which is the standard schematic ladder, but the numbers themselves are unusually kind — more on that below. Chase the top row, not the bottom one: at 10.02% the Schematic 1 lands roughly once every ten drops, while the Legendary sits at one in 1,250. Every schematic in the game shows the same rolled-scroll model in your bag, so the four icons above differ only by rarity border, which is why the pictures on this page are of the armor itself wherever possible.

Snowfields and Sakurajima Supply Drops

This line appears in exactly two of the eight regional supply pools, and both run identical odds, so it makes no difference which one you camp — take whichever region you're already levelling in. What makes it worth camping at all is that these are the best odds any cold armor schematic gets anywhere in the game, at both ends of the ladder. Nothing else in the cold family comes close on the Uncommon, and nothing else beats 0.08% on the Legendary.

Cold Resistant Refined Metal Armor416.33%0.05%Desert · Mount Obsidian
Cold Resistant Pelt Armor185.72%0.05%Grasslands
Cold Resistant Metal Armor275.23%0.04%Forest

Two things fall out of that table. First, if you're standing in the snow and hoping for cold gear, this is the tier you're actually farming — camping Snowfields drops for the Refined line does nothing, because that line lives in the Desert and on Mount Obsidian. Second, Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor and the Ancient tier don't appear in any supply pool at all, so at Tech 50 this is the highest cold armor a supply drop will ever hand you. Full pools for all eight regions are on the Palworld supply drops page.

Every Chest, Camp and Dig That Stocks It

Supply drops are the source with published odds, but they are not the only source, and for a 0.08% roll the background loot pools matter more than the headline number suggests. Six of them carry the Legendary, and five of them you pass through anyway while levelling in the snow. Pocketpair hasn't published rates for chests and camp stashes the way it has for supply drops, so treat these as the volume game — you open a lot of them without thinking about it, and one eventually pays.

FishingSnowfields367 fishing spots

The fishing line is the one nobody expects and the one worth acting on — a Legendary armor schematic in a fishing pool is not something you'd guess from the icon, and snow fishing spots are quiet, safe and repeatable in a way that camp clearing isn't. The camps are the opposite trade: high risk, but they're the only source that pays twice, since the general camp loot and the boss stash are separate rolls on the same trip. The tier 3 treasure map dig is the odd one out in a useful way — it's the only source on this list that isn't locked to a region, and it's also the only one the Uncommon schematic can't come from, so a dig that hits this line hits it at Epic or Legendary. Everything pinned above lives on the Palworld interactive map.

Why No Boss Drops It

Five armor schematics in the entire game sit on a Pal's loot table, all of them the Legendary tier, all at a flat 3%. Two are cold-resistant and neither is this one. If you were hoping for a repeatable kill, the honest answer is that the closest thing you'll get is Alpha Menasting for the tier below — and that tier caps at 180 defence.

There's a silver lining in the level column. Every one of those bosses is beatable before or around the point you unlock this armor, and killing them is how most players end up with a stack of Ancient Civilization Parts — the material every Legendary body armor recipe eats. So the bosses still fund the craft even though they don't drop the paper for it. If you want a repeatable kill on your route while you're farming, Menasting's location and drops is the closest one, and every Alpha Pal and its multipliers is on the Alpha database.

Build It Instead: The Drafting Table Route

With no boss to farm, the Drafting Table stops being a fallback and becomes the actual plan. It unlocks at Technology Lv 45 for 4 Technology Points and merges five identical schematics into one of the next rarity up, and this line supports the full ladder with no missing rungs. The timing works out better here than it does for most armor: the table arrives at Lv 45 and the armor at Lv 50, so you get five levels of hoarding before the recipe even matters.

TargetCombine costEquivalent in Schematic 1sSupply drops needed
Schematic 2Schematic 15~50
Schematic 3Schematic 225~250
Schematic 4 - LegendarySchematic 3125~1,250

That last row looks brutal and it is, but compare it against the alternative: a straight 0.08% roll also averages one Legendary per 1,250 drops, so combining costs you nothing extra and pays out on a schedule instead of on a coin flip. That's the argument for this line specifically — with no 3% boss shortcut, the deterministic route is the efficient route. Combine at the top of the ladder only, bank Schematic 3s until you're holding five, and don't spend Uncommons early, because those are the rolls you'll want back when a lucky Epic lands and you're one short. The table costs 20 Refined Ingot, 10 High Quality Wooden Board and 30 Charcoal to build; the schematic upgrade guide has the full rules.

TipCraft the Common version the day you hit Tech 50 and stop waiting on a rarity roll. Every tier of this armor gives the identical Cold 2 resistance — rarity moves defence and HP, never the temperature protection — so a Common suit you're wearing in the snow tonight beats a Legendary schematic you haven't rolled. And since there's no boss shortcut here, the schematics you want are the cheap ones: bank Schematic 1 at 10.02% every time a Snowfields drop lands and let the Drafting Table do the rest.

How to Craft Cold Resistant Pal Metal Armor

Whichever schematic tier you're holding, the base recipe is four materials on the Production Assembly Line II for 200,000 work — note the II, because the plain Assembly Line won't take this one. Nothing in the list is endgame: no ancient parts, no Paloxite, no Soralite. The two lines worth planning around are the ingots, which need their own furnace, and the coolant, which is crafted rather than picked up.

MaterialQtyMade at / from
Pal Metal Ingot30Electric Furnace (Tech Lv 44) — 4 Ore + 1 Pure Quartz + 2 Paldium Fragment each
Leather30Pal drops — Mammorest Cryst pays 5-10 at 100%
High Quality Cloth3Tech Lv 36 — 10 Wool + 1 Leather each
Cryogenic Coolant5Tech Lv 31 — 1 Aquatic Pal Fluids + 1 Ice Organ each

Trace all four lines down to things you mine, shear or pull off a corpse and one suit works out to 283 raw units. For comparison, the Heat Resistant Pal Metal Armor costs 289 for the identical stat line, so the cold version is marginally cheaper in raw terms — but the heat one is faster to throw together, because 16 Flame Organs is one hunting trip and the coolant needs a Tech 31 unlock plus a crafting step. The plain Pal Metal Armor four tech nodes below runs 20 ingots, 20 leather and 2 cloth for 150,000 work, so the cold version is roughly half again as expensive and buys +30 defence, double durability and the weather protection.

Raw materialTotal for one suitWhere to get it

Ice Organ5Ice Pals at 100% — see below
Aquatic Pal Fluids5Water Pals at 100% — see below

The convenient part is where those materials live. Pure Quartz is a snowfield resource and Paldium Ore clusters near water, so the two rarest lines in the recipe sit in and around the same region that stocks the schematic — a Snowfields base covers the drop hunt and most of the mining on one trip. Ore at 120 is the biggest single number but also the most common node type in the game at 1,632 pins, so it's a time cost rather than a scarcity problem.

Pal Metal Ingot: the Real Bottleneck

Thirty ingots at 50,000 work apiece is 1.5 million work before the armor's own 200,000, which makes the smelting stage roughly eighty-eight percent of the whole build. That's the number to plan around, not the material count. It also can't start until Tech Lv 44, because the Pal Metal Ingot is the one ingot the earlier furnaces can't make — the Electric Furnace is a hard gate and it wants electricity to run.

Pure Quartz1Snowfield and cave resource, 607 nodes
Paldium Fragment2711 Paldium Ore nodes, or 30 per Ancient Sphere recycled
Work50,000×30 ingots = 1,500,000 total

Two things make this survivable. Paldium Fragments come out of recycling in bulk as well as out of nodes, so if you've been hoarding spheres you may already have the 60. And the furnace itself pays back — build it once and the ingot feeds Pal Metal weapons, the heat version of this armor and the helm line too. Stack Kindling Pals on it and batch thirty ingots overnight rather than trickling them; the Palworld structures list has the full build costs and worker requirements.

Fastest Cryogenic Coolant Farm

Five coolant is one short hunting trip, not a project. You need 5 Ice Organ and 5 Aquatic Pal Fluids, both of which drop at 100% off their respective element, so it comes down to how many per kill and how easy the Pal is to find. There's one shortcut most people miss: [[pal:BlueDragon_Ice|Azurobe Cryst]] drops both materials, at 100% each, and it has 259 spawn points — one Pal, the entire coolant requirement, no second trip.

If you want raw efficiency instead of convenience, Pierdon Cryst and Suzaku Aqua are the best per-kill rates on each half — one Suzaku Aqua covers all five fluids on its own. Foxcicle is the one you'll trip over most often at 187 spots. Because coolant is crafted on the Production Assembly Line for 10,000 work each, batch it: the Electric Furnace you need for the ingots costs 10 coolant to build, so make at least fifteen in one go and you've covered the furnace and the suit together. The full drop table for every material is on the Palworld items database.

Can You Even Build It Yet?

Technology Lv 50 is the headline gate, but six supporting nodes sit underneath it and each has its own level and its own station. Work down this checklist before you go schematic hunting — a Legendary schematic in your bag does nothing at all until the bench, the furnace, the ingots and the coolant exist to use it. The total is 26 Technology Points, all of them the ordinary kind rather than the Ancient ones you pry out of tower bosses.

There's a dependency loop hiding in that table worth spotting early: the Electric Furnace needs 10 Cryogenic Coolant to build, so the Tech 31 coolant node isn't optional even if you never touch this armor — no coolant means no furnace means no Pal Metal at all. The other sequencing note is friendlier than usual. The Drafting Table lands at Lv 45, five levels before the armor, so unlike most armor lines you can be combining schematics the whole time you're climbing to 50. The full tree is on the Palworld technology page.

How It Compares to Every Other Cold Armor

Eight body armors carry cold resistance and they form a clean ladder from Tech Lv 9 to Tech Lv 77. Cold Resistant Pal Metal Armor sits fourth from the top, and its selling point is durability rather than defence — 10,000 is more than triple the tier below it and only 8,000 short of both Plasteel and Hexolite, which sit fourteen and twenty-four tech levels further along.

Read the last column before the first one. Everything from the Tundra Outfit at Tech 9 to Plasteel at Tech 54 gives identical Cold 2 protection — only Hexolite and Ancient Armor reach Cold 3. Climbing this ladder never makes you warmer, it only makes you harder to kill while you're cold. If the weather is your only problem, the Tundra Outfit solves it at Tech 9 for 4 weight and always will. The reason to be here at Tech 50 is the things living in the snow, and the 40 weight is the price — swap down to the Tundra Outfit for pure hauling trips. Every armor piece in the game is compared on the armor database.

What a Legendary Version Actually Gains

Rarity raises the crafted armor's numbers, and the plain Pal Metal Armor line is the one Pal Metal armor whose five rarity steps are laid out end to end in the game. It climbs 220 → 286 → 308 → 330 → 352 defence, which is exactly ×1.3, ×1.4, ×1.5 and ×1.6 of base — the same four multipliers every other armor family uses, from Cloth to Hexolite. HP climbs on the identical curve, each step stacks an accuracy bonus the base version doesn't have, and each adds Ancient Civilization Parts to the recipe.

RarityPlain Pal Metal ArmorHPExtra recipe costCold version - estimated
Common220750250
Uncommon2869752 Ancient Civilization Parts~325
Rare3081,0503 Ancient Civilization Parts~350
Epic3301,1254 Ancient Civilization Parts~375
Legendary3521,2005 Ancient Civilization Parts~400

Pocketpair has never published the per-rarity multipliers, so treat the right-hand column as the plain line's own curve applied to 250 — a close estimate rather than a measured number. 250 is the only figure in that column that's certain. What isn't in doubt is the shape: a Legendary lands roughly 60% above the Common, the HP bonus climbs toward 1,200, and the recipe roughly doubles in ingots and leather on top of the Ancient Civilization Parts.

That estimate is the whole case for farming this schematic. At an estimated ~400 defence, a Legendary Cold Resistant Pal Metal Armor at Tech Lv 50 would match a Common Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor at Tech Lv 54 — four tech levels of progression, skipped, with a much cheaper material bill. It would also beat the Legendary plain Pal Metal Armor at 352 while keeping the cold resistance. That's a genuine tier-skip, which is why the 125-schematic grind is worth starting early rather than shrugging at.

The Short Answer

There is no boss farm for this one — no Pal in the game drops the Legendary Cold Resistant Pal Metal Armor schematic. Farm Snowfields and Sakurajima supply drops instead, where the odds are the best any cold armor line gets: 10.02% for Schematic 1 and 0.08% for the Legendary. Back that up with Snowfields field chests, enemy camp loot and boss stashes, snow fishing spots and tier 3 treasure map digs, all of which stock the same schematic. Because there's no 3% shortcut, the Drafting Table at Tech Lv 45 is the real plan: five Schematic 1s make a 2, and 125 make a Legendary on a schedule instead of a coin flip. Build the Common version the moment you hit Tech Lv 50 — 120 Ore, 60 Paldium Fragment, 33 Leather, 30 Pure Quartz, 30 Wool, 5 Ice Organ and 5 Aquatic Pal Fluids — and remember the Electric Furnace at Lv 44 is the gate that actually holds most players up.
