Palworld Halloween Skins: All 4 Skins and How to Get Them
All four Halloween Pal skins from version 0.3.10 — what each one changes, which Pal wears it, exactly where to catch that Pal, the Pal Dressing Facility cost, and how to earn Zoe's Halloween Costume from the Happy Halloween! sidequest.

The Halloween skins are four free alternate looks that all landed in version 0.3.10, and they happen to sit on four of the easiest Pals in the game to find. This guide covers what each skin changes, where to catch the Pal that wears it, what the Pal Dressing Facility costs to build, and how to earn Zoe's Halloween Costume on top of the four.
Halloween Skins at a Glance
Nothing about this set is time-gated. The four skins are attached to the 0.3.10 update itself rather than to a login window or an event currency, so a save you start today already has them sitting in the dressing menu waiting for the right Pal. The only real requirement is owning the Pal — a skin is a costume for a specific species and it will not appear as an option until you have that species captured.
| What | Detail |
|---|---|
| Halloween skins | 4 Pal skins, plus 1 character costume for Zoe |
| Pals that wear one | Cattiva, Croajiro, Pengullet and Katress |
| Added in | Version 0.3.10 — all four shipped in the same patch |
| How you get them | Install the update and play. No purchase, no claim window, no event currency |
| Expiry | None. Once the update is on your machine the skins stay |
| Where you apply them | Pal Dressing Facility — technology Lv. 2, 1 point, 10 Stone + 10 Paldium Fragment |
| Effect on stats | None. HP, attack, work suitability, partner skill and moves are all untouched |
| Share of all skins | 4 of the game's 22 Pal skins — the third-largest batch ever dropped at once |
| Character costume | Zoe's Halloween Costume, earned through the sidequest Happy Halloween! |
The stats row is the one people ask about most. A skin is paint. A Halloween-dressed Katress still brings the same Handiwork 3 and Medicine Production 3 to your base, and a jack-o'-lantern Cattiva still carries the same weight bonus, so there is no competitive reason to leave one plain.
All 4 Halloween Pal Skins
Three of the four are straight costume-party looks — a pumpkin head, a witch hat, a pair of spectacles. Pirate Pengullet is the odd one out, a skull-and-crossbones bandana that reads more buccaneer than spooky, but it shipped in the same patch as the other three and is counted with them. For Croajiro, Pengullet and Katress this is the only skin those species have ever received, so if you want them looking different at all, Halloween is the entire menu.
| Skin | Pal | Paldeck | Element | What it changes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Cattiva | #2 | Neutral | Swaps its whole head for a carved jack-o'-lantern with a jagged grin, tail still poking up behind | |
Croajiro | #9 | Water | A pointed black witch hat with an orange band, worn over a dark cloak | |
Pengullet | #17 | Water / Ice | A red bandana with a white skull and crossbones tied over its head | |
Katress | #79 | Dark | Round tinted glasses and a broad purple witch hat pushed back off its face |
Cattiva is the only one of the four with company in its wardrobe — it has three skins in total, so the pumpkin head competes with a sunglasses look and a Lunar New Year one. The other three are single-skin Pals. That matters if you are dressing a whole base for the season: you can rotate Cattiva's look later, but a Katress you dress today is dressed the only way it can be.
Where to Catch Each Halloween Skin Pal
You cannot dress a Pal you do not own, and this is where the Halloween set is unusually kind — three of the four are among the most widespread Pals on the map, and all four turn up in the early-game regions. Pengullet is the standout: with 1,125 recorded spawn points it is the 11th most widespread of the 274 Pals that have spawn points at all, which means you will trip over one long before you have the technology point to build the dressing facility. Katress is the only one that needs planning, because it is overwhelmingly a night spawn.
| Pal | Paldeck | Element | Spawn spots | Best time | Group size | Capture rate | Spawn map |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Pengullet | #17 | Water / Ice | 1,125 | Day or night | 1–3 | 1.0× | Pengullet spawn map |
Croajiro | #9 | Water | 667 | Day or night | 1–3 | 1.0× | Croajiro spawn map |
Katress | #79 | Dark | 605 | Night — only 45 of those spots fire in daylight | 1–2 | 1.0× | Katress spawn map |
Cattiva | #2 | Neutral | 367 | Day or night | 1–3 | 1.5× | Cattiva spawn map |
Capture rate is the multiplier on your sphere's odds, so Cattiva's 1.5× makes it the softest catch of the four — a Pal Sphere thrown at a healthy one will often still stick. The other three sit at the standard 1.0×, which for early-game levels is a knock-down-then-throw job rather than a straight toss. Group size matters for the trip: Cattiva, Croajiro and Pengullet all appear in packs of up to three, so one good spawn point can fill a cage in a single pass.
Pengullet
The easiest Halloween skin to unlock by a mile. Pengullet's 1,125 points blanket the cold coastlines and it spawns in threes, so a single sweep along a shoreline usually nets a spare or two. It is also worth keeping past the costume: its partner skill turns it into ammunition for the Pengullet Rocket Launcher saddle at technology level 17, and every kill hands you an Ice Organ and Aquatic Pal Fluids at a guaranteed rate, which covers your early cooling and refrigeration crafts.
Croajiro
667 spawn points puts Croajiro 24th on the spawn-density list, and it is a common early catch in the grasslands. Leap Stance is the reason to keep the witch-hatted one in your party rather than parking it at base: it is not a mount, but standing on its back launches you over ledges you have no business clearing yet, and it raises your ranged attack by 50% at skill rank 1, climbing to 86% once maxed. It also drops Cloth a quarter of the time, which feeds directly into the Zoe costume below.
Katress
The one that needs a plan. Katress has 605 recorded spawn points but only 45 of them ever fire in daylight, so sweeping the same hillsides at noon will mostly come up empty — sleep the cycle forward or set a base next to a night point and farm it on repeat. It is the strongest base worker of the four by a distance, with Handiwork 3, Medicine Production 3 and Transporting 2, and Mystical Black Magic raises the item drops you pull from Neutral Pals by 40% at rank 1 up to 80% at max. It also drops 1–2 Leather every time, the other half of the Zoe costume recipe.
Cattiva
The second entry in the Paldeck and the Pal most players catch first, which is exactly why it got a skin so early. 367 spawn points is the smallest number on this list but they sit right on top of the starting area, and at 1.5× capture rate it is the friendliest throw in the game. Cat Helper adds 100 to your maximum inventory weight at skill rank 1 and 200 at rank 5, so a pumpkin-headed Cattiva is a mule that happens to be in costume.
How to Unlock and Apply a Halloween Skin
There is no hunt for the skins themselves — owning them is automatic once you are patched. The only thing between you and a dressed Pal is one technology point and twenty units of the two most common materials in the game. Build the Pal Dressing Facility inside a base, and note that it draws no power and needs no worker assigned, so you can tuck it in a corner and forget about it.
| Requirement | Detail | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Technology level | Lv. 2, costs 1 technology point | One point per character level — you will have spares this early |
| 10 | Any rock. 8,157 Rock and 4,286 Small Rock nodes are pinned on the Palworld interactive map | |
| 10 | 711 Paldium Ore nodes on the Paldium Ore map layer, or buy it from a wandering merchant | |
| Power | None — no generator, no assigned Pal | Build it anywhere inside base range |
| The Pal itself | Captured, in your party or Palbox | Wild Pals cannot be dressed |
Applying it takes four clicks: interact with the facility, pick the species, pick the individual Pal, pick the skin. The swap is free in both directions, so you can strip the pumpkin head off in November and put it back next year without paying anything. One thing to watch — the skin is applied to one specific captured Pal, so dressing one Cattiva leaves every other Cattiva in your box plain.
Zoe's Halloween Costume and the Happy Halloween! Quest
This one breaks the pattern. It arrived much later than the 0.3.10 batch, in version 0.6.8, it dresses a character rather than a species, and it is the only Halloween look in the game you have to actually earn. It puts a witch hat and outfit on Zoe, the Rayne Syndicate tower boss, with a matching version that includes Grizzbolt in a hat beside her — which is why it never shows up in your Pal Dressing Facility list next to the other four.
| Step | What you need |
|---|---|
| Get the plan | Zoe's Halloween Costume Schematic — described in-game as a memo of Zoe's mutterings |
| Craft the outfit | Zoe's Halloween Costume at a workbench |
| Materials | 5 Cloth + 5 Leather |
| Real cost of the Cloth | 10 Wool, since each Cloth is 2 Wool at a workbench |
| Crafting workload | 5,000 — heavy for a costume, so put a Handiwork Pal on it and walk away |
| Hand it over | Deliver the finished costume to Zoe to complete Happy Halloween! |
The material bill is trivial by the time you can reach Zoe, and there is a neat overlap with the skins above: Katress drops 1–2 Leather every single time and Croajiro drops Cloth on a quarter of its kills, so the two Pals you are already hunting for their Halloween looks cover both halves of the recipe. The 5,000 workload is the actual cost here — that is more effort than a mid-tier weapon, so start it and go do something else rather than hammering it out by hand. If her fight is still ahead of you, the team and the drop list are in our Hard Mode Zoe and Grizzbolt guide.
Are the Halloween Skins Still Available?
Yes, and permanently. This is the part worth being clear about, because Palworld has shipped skins through several very different doors and only some of them ever closed. The Halloween four came bundled with the update itself, which means there was never a claim window to miss — a save started years after 0.3.10 has the same four skins as one started the week it launched. The skins that *were* time-limited, the Twitch-drop pair, were later opened to everyone anyway, so at this point nothing in the skin roster is genuinely unobtainable.
| How the skin arrived | Examples | Claim window | Available now |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bundled with an update | The Halloween four — Halloween Cattiva, Halloween Croajiro, Pirate Pengullet, Spectacled Katress | None | Yes — just be on the current version |
| Twitch drop | Golden Relaxaurus, Sailor Quivern | Limited when it ran | Yes — later opened to all players |
| Platform giveaway | Summer Chillet | Tied to the 0.4.11 rollout | Yes |
| Quest reward | Zoe's Halloween Costume | None | Yes — finish Happy Halloween! |
Practically, that means there is no urgency and no FOMO attached to any of this. If you are new and reading in October, you have not missed the four skins from a previous year, and if you are dressing a base for the season the only thing that will slow you down is finding a Katress after dark.
