How to Get the Free Pal Alliance Flag Set and Banners

The Free Pal Alliance Flag Set is how you fly the Alliance's colours over your own camp, and it is split across two completely different unlock routes. Two of the four banners sit on the Technology tree at Level 20 for a single point; the other two never appear on the tree at all and only exist as schematic drops from one narrow loot pool. This guide covers both routes, the build cost of every piece, exactly where the schematics come from, and how the set stacks up against the other seven faction flag sets.

Free Pal Alliance Flag Set at a Glance

"Flag Set" is the name of a single Technology node, not the name of all four banners — and that gap is where most of the confusion comes from. Buying the node hands you the Free Pal Alliance Standard and the Free Pal Alliance Vertical Banner and nothing else. The Free Pal Alliance Flag and Horizontal Banner are schematic-locked, so you can be Level 60 with the node long since bought and still be missing half the set. How to Unlock the Flag Set in the Technology Tree

Hit player Level 20, open the Palworld technology tree, and buy the Free Pal Alliance Flag Set node for 1 Technology Point. That is the entire unlock — there is no prerequisite node above it and no boss you have to beat first. One point is as cheap as this game gets, and it is worth noticing what else is competing for your points at that exact level: the Weapon Workbench and the Giga Sphere both want three, and Dimensional Pal Storage wants two. If you are hoarding points for the sphere upgrade, the flag set is the one purchase at Level 20 that will not meaningfully delay it.

Free Pal Alliance Standard

The Standard is the big planted flagpole and the centrepiece of the set. It costs 20 Wood, 10 Fiber and 20 Cloth — and that wood line is genuinely unusual. Every other faction Standard in the game demands 20 Ingot or 20 Refined Ingot instead, which makes this the only faction standard you can build without ever lighting a furnace. If you are decorating a fresh forward base with no smelting set up, this is the flag to plant.

Free Pal Alliance Vertical Banner

The Vertical Banner is the tall hanging cloth meant for walls and gateways, and it is the metal half of the pair: 10 Ingot, 10 Fiber and 20 Cloth. Ten Ingot is 20 Ore through a Primitive Furnace, which unlocks fifteen levels earlier at Technology 10, so nothing here should be a surprise by the time you buy the node. Build the Standard first if materials are tight — the banner is the piece you will place several of once you start decorating properly.

The Two Pieces the Tech Tree Never Gives You

The Free Pal Alliance Flag and the Horizontal Banner are not on the technology tree at any level. They are two of only 15 structure schematics in the entire game — buildables that exist purely as a drop — and until the right schematic is in your possession the build menu simply will not list them. The good news is that they behave better than weapon schematics do. There is no rarity ladder to chase here: a single copy of each is the whole unlock, and the description spells out something weapon schematics never allow — the recipe stays unlocked when the schematic is stored in a base container, not just when it is riding in your inventory. Drop them in a chest at home and forget about them.

Both are cheaper to build than either tech-tree piece, and the Horizontal Banner is the cheapest thing in the set at 10 Fiber and 10 Cloth. Neither one is sold by a merchant anywhere, and neither turns up in a dungeon chest, a supply drop or an expedition haul. One pool, one region — that is the whole acquisition story, which is why people who never fight camps end up with a permanently half-finished set.

Where to Farm the Schematics

Enemy camps are fortified NPC outposts, each one built around a boss with a stash behind them, and the Enemy Camps layer on our interactive map has 58 of them pinned across Palpagos. The two banner schematics come specifically from the Forest camps — the same pattern holds across every faction, so the Lyleen Statue Schematic also drops there while the Rayne Syndicate's own flag schematic comes out of Grasslands and Desert camps instead. Clear the camp, kill the boss, and open the stash rather than the ordinary loot crates scattered around it: the two are separate pools and only the boss stash carries schematics.

That stash pool holds 63 possible items, and the odds are stacked against you in a very specific way. Forty of the sixty-three are weapon and armour schematics from the early-game lines, running all the way from Schematic 1 up to the Schematic 4 legendary tier for Muskets, Metal Armor, Handguns and the rest. Twelve more are Applied Handbooks. That leaves eleven entries for everything else — and only three of the sixty-three are structure schematics, two of which are the banners you want. Budget for a lot of camps, and treat the gear schematics as the real payout while you wait.

What the Whole Set Costs

All four pieces together come to 30 Wood, 35 Fiber, 60 Cloth and 10 Ingot. Cloth is the whole bill in practice — 60 sheets is 120 [[item:Wool|Wool]], since each sheet takes two, and there is no other material in the set you will not already be tripping over. Cloth unlocks early at Technology 4 for one point and is made at the Primitive Workbench, so the constraint is wool supply rather than tech access.

Wool is a Ranch job, not a hunting job. Three Pals produce it on a Ranch and the cheapest is also the easiest to find: Lamball needs only rank 1 Ranching and has the most spawn points of the three by a comfortable margin. Melpaca and Cremis both sit at rank 2, which is the higher rank of the pair but not a meaningfully harder catch. Park two or three of them on a Ranch overnight and the 120 Wool is waiting for you in the morning — merchants will sell Wool too, but paying gold for something a starter Pal makes for free is a poor trade at this stage.

How It Compares to Every Other Faction Flag Set

Eight factions have a flag set on the technology tree, every single one of them costing exactly 1 Technology Point, and the only real difference between them is when they unlock and what the Standard is made of. The Free Pal Alliance set is the second-earliest of the eight — only the Rayne Syndicate beats it, nine levels sooner — but it is the cheapest of the lot to actually build, because it is the sole set whose Standard asks for Wood rather than metal. From PIDF at Level 39 onward every set switches to Refined Ingot, and the last three also demand High Quality Cloth instead of the basic sheet, which roughly doubles the material chain behind each banner.

Who the Free Pal Alliance Actually Are

The Alliance are the Pal-liberation zealots of the Forest, and flying their banner is a slightly cheeky thing to do given they will also come and attack your base for keeping Pals in the first place. Five separate Alliance raid groups exist, scaled to your base rank, and they escalate hard: the opening Radicals are six Level 15 Believers in a single wave, while the Task Force at base rank 61+ throws three waves and a total of twenty-three bodies at you, ten of them Judicators. Believers carry a Bow Gun or a melee weapon at 50 HP; Judicators are the tanky ones at 100 HP with a Gatling Gun or a Giant Club, and they are what turns a late Alliance raid into a real fight.

They own a piece of endgame content too. The Free Pal Alliance Illicit Trading Post is the Very Hard Forest expedition — a 120-minute run demanding 1,600,000 Grass strength across 20 Pals, unlocked by beating the Forest tower boss — and it pays out 25–30 Ancient Pal Manuscripts, 10–20 Sol Spheres and 1–2 Bellanoir Libero Slab Fragments per completion. If you are already running Forest camps for the banner schematics, that expedition is the natural thing to have ticking away in the background.

The Short Answer

Reach player Level 20 and spend 1 Technology Point on the Free Pal Alliance Flag Set node — that gets you the Standard and the Vertical Banner immediately, for 20 Wood, 10 Ingot, 20 Fiber and 40 Cloth between them. For the other two pieces, farm boss stashes at Forest enemy camps until the Free Pal Alliance Flag Schematic and Free Pal Alliance Banner Schematic drop, then leave both schematics in a base chest — they keep the recipes unlocked from storage. Have a Ranch running Lamball for wool the whole time, because 120 Wool is the real cost of the complete set.
