Eye of Cthulhu Location, Drops, and How to Beat It
Where to find Eye of Cthulhu in Palworld, the Hallowed Bar it guarantees, the 350-defence mask named after it, the Dragon Pals that counter it, and how to breed more.

Eye of Cthulhu is the Dark-element boss sitting at the end of the Sealed Realm of Terraria, the dungeon that came with the Tides of Terraria collab, and killing it is the only fight in the game that hands you Hallowed Bar directly. Below: exactly where the entrance is, what the Eye drops, the mask that carries its name, the Pals that counter it, and the breeding trick that turns one Eye into as many as you want.
Eye of Cthulhu Stat Card
The collab Pals sit outside the Paldeck entirely, so there's no dex number and no portrait card for this one — the art above is its mask, which is the closest thing the game gives you to a picture of it. The row that decides your loadout is the element: Dark, which means Dragon damage is what hurts it and your Neutral Pals are the worst possible choice, because Dark is the element that beats Neutral. Its 110 HP, 105 Attack and 95 Defence read above the median for a Dark Pal (95 HP, 100 melee Attack, 90 Defence across the 70 Dark Pals in the game), so this is a solid mid-weight body rather than a wall — compare those to other Pals' base stats only, never to a weapon's attack number.
| Detail | Eye of Cthulhu |
|---|---|
| Element | Dark |
| Weak to | Dragon attacks |
| Strong against | Neutral Pals |
| Where it lives | Sealed Realm of Terraria — the Tides of Terraria dungeon |
| Guaranteed drop | [[item:YakushimaIngot001|Hallowed Bar]] |
| Base HP | 110 |
| Base Attack | 105 |
| Base Defence | 95 |
| Work suitability | Transporting Lv 4 — only 29 of 288 Paldeck Pals reach Lv 4 or better at it |
| Partner skill | Mad Eye Lunge — it charges whatever you're aiming at, scaling S to XL with skill level |
| Signature skills | Lock-On Lunge (Dark, 300 power, 15s) · Servant Call (Dark, 300 power, 10s) |
| Paldeck number | None — collab Pals aren't numbered |
| Breeding | Dominant — pairs with any Tides of Terraria Pal to make another Eye of Cthulhu |
Two things on that card are worth a second look. Servant Call comes around every 10 seconds against the lunge's 15, so the four summoned servants are the attack you'll actually spend the fight dealing with — ignore them and burst the Eye, because they die with it. And Transporting Lv 4 is genuinely rare: 29 Pals out of 288 hit that mark, which makes a captured Eye a real base worker rather than a trophy. For reference on the skill numbers, the hardest-hitting Dark skill any Pal can learn is Toxic Dance at 700 power on a 30-second cooldown, so 300 on a 10-second timer is a fast, chip-damage pattern rather than a one-shot.
Where to Find Eye of Cthulhu
The Eye doesn't roam Palpagos — it waits at the back of the Sealed Realm of Terraria, and there is exactly one entrance pin to that realm on the whole map. It sits southeast of Fisherman's Point, and the game gives the realm its own fast travel statue right beside the door, so this is a one-and-done trip: unlock the statue once and every future run starts at the entrance. Fisherman's Point is the nearest other fast travel if you haven't found it yet. Open the interactive map on the Yakushima dungeon entrance and the single pin is the door.
| Getting there | Detail |
|---|---|
| Dungeon entrances on the map | 1 — the only way into the realm |
| Fast travel at the door | Sealed Realm of Terraria statue, right next to the entrance |
| Nearest other fast travel | Fisherman's Point, northwest of it |
| Map layer | Dungeon Entrances — Yakushima |
| Boss position | Final chamber, at the end of the run |
What Else Lives in the Sealed Realm
The realm isn't only collab monsters — three ordinary Palpagos Pals share its spawn tables, and for two of them this dungeon is one of the densest patches they have anywhere. [[pal:TropicalOstrich|Palumba]] is the standout: 7 of its 42 spawn points sit in here, which is 16.7% of every Palumba spawn in the game and ties the realm with Oasis Isle as its second-best hunting ground. Dumud Gild and Celaray Lux both put 27 points inside, so if you were already farming either one, a boss run doubles as a capture run.
| Pal | Elements | Spawn points in the realm | Share of its total spawns |
|---|---|---|---|
Celaray Lux | Water, Electric | 27 of 328 | 8.2% |
Dumud Gild | Ground, Water | 27 of 312 | 8.7% |
Palumba | Grass | 7 of 42 | 16.7% |
Bring spheres. Palumba is a Lv 5 Mining worker and Dumud Gild is one of the better Gathering bodies in the game, so a trip you took for Hallowed Bar can pay for itself twice. Full spawn breakdowns for each are on their Pal pages, and the Palworld interactive map carries the surface spawn layers for anything you'd rather hunt outdoors.
Eye of Cthulhu Drops
One drop matters and it's guaranteed: Hallowed Bar. That's the entire economy of the collab in a single material — every piece of Terraria armor, every Terraria weapon and the sigil that summons the raid are all built from it, and it cannot be smelted, crafted, bought from a merchant or found anywhere outside the Yakushima area. The chests inside the realm are the volume source and the Eye is the reliable one, which is why most people clear the boss on the way out rather than skipping it.
| What it yields | Source | Per pull | Odds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eye of Cthulhu, on defeat | Guaranteed | 100% | |
| Cavern-grade chests in the Yakushima | 20-40 | 100% | |
| Treasure chests in the Yakushima | 4-10 | 100% | |
| Smelting, merchants, expeditions | — | No source |
The practical read: cavern-grade chests are four to ten times the metal per roll, so they're your farm, and the Eye is your top-up. Those same deep chests are also the only place the Celestial Sigil Schematic appears, at a flat 100%, and the four heavy Terraria weapon schematics roll there at 4.25% for the plain tier down to 1.25% for the Legendary. The armor schematics live in the shallower treasure chests instead, at 7.068% each for the base tier — the full breakdown for the body piece is in the Hallowed Plate Mail Schematic Location and Stats guide.
Eye of Cthulhu Mask: One Bar for 350 Defence
The Pal's namesake head piece is quietly one of the best things in the slot. 350 defence, 800 HP and 20,000 durability puts it second in the entire game behind Ancient Helm, level with Hexolite Helmet — and where Hexolite wants Technology Lv 60 and 400,000 work, this asks for a single Hallowed Bar and 15,000. Unlike the four Hallowed helmets it isn't tied to any workbench in the game, so treat it as a trophy piece you either have or don't rather than something you queue up on demand. The art shown above is the Moon Lord Mask, its identical twin from the raid, because the two share a stat line to the point.
| Head armor | Defence | HP | Durability | Tech level | Work |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | 1,200 | 25,000 | 68 | 500,000 | |
| 350 | 800 | 20,000 | None | 15,000 | |
| 350 | 800 | 20,000 | None | 15,000 | |
| 350 | 800 | 20,000 | 60 | 400,000 | |
| 260 | 600 | 18,000 | 51 | 200,000 | |
| 150 | 350 | 5,000 | 46 | 120,000 | |
| 140 | 320 | 4,500 | None | 40,000 |
Read the last two rows against the second one and the gap is absurd: the Eye's mask carries 2.5× the defence of a Hallowed Mask for a twentieth of the bars. The catch is that it has no damage passive at all, while the four Hallowed helmets each boost one weapon family — so the mask is what you wear when you're not swinging a collab weapon, and a Hallowed helmet is what you wear when you are. Everything in the slot is laid out side by side on the Palworld armor list.
How to Beat Eye of Cthulhu
Dark is beaten by Dragon, and that single fact does most of the work here. Leave every Neutral Pal at base — Dark is specifically strong against Neutral, so a Neutral bruiser takes extra damage and deals none back. Beyond element, the fight is about handling Servant Call: four servants spawn on a 10-second timer, they clean up anyone who stands still, and none of them matter if the Eye is dead, so reposition out of the swarm and keep your damage on the boss. The lunge telegraphs a straight-line charge, so strafe rather than back up.
| Pal | Elements | Attack | Why bring it |
|---|---|---|---|
Blazamut Ryu | Dragon, Fire | 150 | Highest-attack Dragon in the game alongside the Jormuntides, and its exclusive Magna Crush lands 700 power — the hardest single Dragon hit available |
Jormuntide Ignis | Dragon, Fire | 150 | Same 150 attack with 130 HP behind it, the sturdiest of the top-attack Dragons |
Jetragon | Dragon | 140 | Pure Dragon, so nothing on the Eye resists it, and it's the mount that gets you to the door fastest |
Shaolong | Dragon, Water | 135 | 140 HP is the highest of any top-tier Dragon — the pick if you keep getting caught by the charge |
Orserk | Dragon, Electric | 130 | 120 HP and 115 defence with Dragon damage attached, a good all-round second slot |
Aegidron | Dragon, Ground | 125 | 140 defence, the tankiest Dragon body — send it in to hold aggro while the swarm is up |
Blazamut Ryu or Jormuntide Ignis first, Aegidron if you're getting flattened. Attack numbers there are base Pal stats and only comparable to each other, not to any weapon. If your Dragons don't know a Dragon skill yet, that's the gap to close before you go — the List of Dragon Skill Fruits guide covers which fruits teach what and where they grow, and the Best Team Comps guide has the general boss-killer template.
Weapons Worth Bringing
You don't need collab gear to kill the Eye, but if you already have some, this is the fight to use it in. [[item:YakushimaBlade002|Terra Blade]] at 425 attack is the strongest melee weapon the set builds, and it's the one to chase — compare that only against other melee weapons, since the Vortex Beater is a rifle and its 450 at Legendary is a different measurement entirely. Terraprisma and Nightglow look weak on paper because neither is swung: one calls up to nine blades to fight for you and the other fires homing light, so their damage arrives over time. Every stat below is the plain Common build.
| Weapon | Type | Base attack | Durability | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Melee | 425 | 757 | 40 | |
| Melee | 360 | 600 | 30 Hallowed Bar | |
| Assault rifle | 300 | 3,000 | 40 Hallowed Bar + 20 Pal Metal Ingot + 5 | |
| Melee | 222 | 22,222 | 22 Hallowed Bar + 22 | |
| Melee | 200 | 2,222 | 22 | |
| Summon | 90 | 5,000 | 40 Hallowed Bar + 20 Pal Metal Ingot + 3 | |
| Magic | 50 | 3,000 | 40 Hallowed Bar + 20 Pal Metal Ingot + 3 Ancient Civilization Parts |
Meowmere is the sleeper on this list — 200 attack and it's the only collab weapon that costs no Hallowed Bar at all, so it's buildable the day you unlock the recipe rather than after a chest grind. Legendary Meowmere's 22,222 durability against Excalibur's 600 is the widest gap of its kind in the game; it will outlast every other melee weapon you own by a factor of thirty. Ranged options across the whole game are ranked in All Guns Ranked.
How to Breed More Eye of Cthulhu
This is the part people miss, and it's the best reason to capture one instead of just killing it. The eleven Tides of Terraria Pals form a closed breeding pool — they're excluded from the normal combination ranking, so they only ever produce each other — and inside that pool Eye of Cthulhu is dominant. Pair an Eye with any collab Pal at all and the egg is another Eye of Cthulhu. There is no exception, no ratio and no second outcome: one captured Eye plus a pen of slimes is an unlimited supply.
| Pairing | Result |
|---|---|
| Eye of Cthulhu × any of the nine collab monsters | Eye of Cthulhu |
| Eye of Cthulhu × Demon Eye | Eye of Cthulhu |
| Eye of Cthulhu × Eye of Cthulhu | Eye of Cthulhu |
| Demon Eye × any of the nine collab monsters | Demon Eye |
| Demon Eye × Demon Eye | Demon Eye |
The nine monsters are the six slimes — Green, Blue, Red, Purple, Illuminant and Rainbow — plus Enchanted Sword, Cave Bat and Illuminant Bat, and every one of them is easier to catch than the boss. Demon Eye is the small version and it breeds true the same way, so keep the two lines in separate pens unless you want Eyes from everything. All eleven are loaded into the Palworld breeding calculator if you want to check a pairing before you commit an egg to the incubator, and the How to Min-Max Pals guide covers passing passives down once you're breeding for stats rather than for the species.
After the Eye: the Moon Lord Raid
The Eye is the dungeon boss; Moon Lord is the raid, and it's what all that Hallowed Bar is really for. You build a Celestial Sigil for 100 Hallowed Bar at a Summoning Altar and offer it there — the schematic for it drops from cavern-grade Yakushima chests at 100%, so the only real cost is the metal. The base fight is level 50, and every clear hands back a Celestial Sigil [Master] that opens the level 80 version, so you never have to spend 100 bars twice.
| Reward | Level 50 raid | Level 80 raid |
|---|---|---|
| 4-6 at 100% | 3 at 100% | |
| 1 at 100% | 1 at 100% | |
| 4 at 100% | 2-3 at 100% | |
| 22% | — | |
| 10% | — | |
| Terra Blade · Vortex Beater · Nightglow · Terraprisma schematics | Rare tier, 25% each | Legendary tier, 25% each |
| — | 5-10 at 100% | |
| — | 10-20 at 100% | |
| — | 1 at 100% |
Run the level 50 version until the Moon Lord Mask drops, then never go back to it. The 22% Legendary Meowmere and the 10% mask are the only two things the low tier has that the high tier doesn't, and everything else about level 80 is better — Legendary weapon schematics instead of Rare ones, plus diamonds, ancient parts and a guaranteed Lotus. The rest of the game's raids and their reward tables are on the Palworld raid bosses page.
The Short Answer
Eye of Cthulhu waits in the Sealed Realm of Terraria, behind the map's single Yakushima dungeon entrance southeast of Fisherman's Point, and it drops Hallowed Bar every time. It's Dark, so bring Dragons and leave your Neutral Pals home. Its mask is the second-best head armor in the game at 350 defence for one bar. And because the collab Pals breed only among themselves with the Eye dominant, one capture plus a pen of slimes gives you every Eye of Cthulhu you'll ever need.
