Best Pals for Gathering: Ranks, Spawns, and Plantations — Palworld Database

Gathering is the job that pulls finished crops out of the ground, and 109 of the game's 288 Pals can do it — which is why almost nobody thinks about it until a plot stalls or the Ancient Farm refuses their entire box. This guide ranks every Gathering Pal worth owning, lists the exact spawn counts and food costs for each, covers the Pal that raises your whole base by a rank, and shows how to staff a plantation so the harvest keeps coming while you're away.

Gathering at a Glance

Gathering is the joint-second widest job in the game — 109 Pals have it, tying Handiwork and sitting behind only Transporting's 140 — but the top of the ladder is brutally thin. Exactly one Pal reaches rank 8, three reach 7, and three reach 6, so seven bodies out of 288 clear the bar the Ancient Farm sets. For everything below that the rank barely gates you at all: all seven standard plantations accept Gathering Lv. 1, so rank buys you harvest speed, not permission. That makes this a job where a common rank 5 usually beats a legendary rank 7 you have to breed twice for.

Best Gathering Pals in Palworld

These are the only seven Pals at Gathering 6 or better, and four of them have no wild spawn points at all — you fight an alpha or you breed. The honest recommendation depends on what you need the slot for: if you are staffing an Ancient Farm, Lyleen is the pick because Planting 7 rides along on the same body and covers two of the farm's three jobs by itself. If you just want a fast harvester for ordinary plots, Venusa is rank 6 on a small frame that eats 6 food, which is the cheapest way anyone gets to the top of this ladder. Note the appetites: Jetragon, Frostallion Noct and Hartalis all eat 9 per meal, the highest figure on this page.

Jetragon — the Only Gathering 8 Pal

Jetragon owns the ceiling alone, and its sheet is completely clean: Gathering 8 and no second suitability, so once it's placed it never wanders off to another station mid-cycle. The problem is opportunity cost. Jetragon is also the fastest mount in the game at 3,300 ride sprint speed, and it is a rarity 20 legendary with zero field spawn points — one level 70 alpha, or a pair of Jetragon in the breeding farm. Parking your only one on a berry plot to shave seconds off a harvest is a bad trade unless you already have a spare. It eats 9 food per meal on top, which is a real drain on a base that isn't already running a Ranch.

Frostallion Noct and Hartalis — Rank 7 With a Price

Both are pure-harvest bodies with an ugly acquisition path. Frostallion Noct is Gathering 7 with nothing else attached, available as a level 65 alpha or from Frostallion paired with Helzephyr — another rarity 20 legendary spent on farm labour. Hartalis is stranger still: it has no wild spawn points and no alpha at all, so a pair of Hartalis breeding together is the only route in, and you cannot get that pair without already owning one. What Hartalis does bring that nothing else in this tier does is Lumbering 7 on the same body, so it covers your logging site and your plantation from a single base slot. Both eat 9 food.

Starryon Primo — the Rank 7 You Can Actually Catch

This is the one most players should chase. Starryon Primo is Gathering 7 with no competing suitability, it eats 6 food rather than 9, and unlike the three Pals above it, it genuinely spawns in the wild — 63 points on the map, no alpha fight required. If you would rather breed it, Starryon × Celesdir produces it, and both parents are easy catches at 178 and 1,613 spawn points respectively. Feed a caught Starryon Primo one Applied Gathering Handbook I and it works at rank 8 permanently, which matches Jetragon for a Pal you can find in an afternoon.

Lyleen, Lyleen Noct, and Venusa — the Rank 6 Multitaskers

The rank 6 trio is where the Ancient Farm crew actually comes from. Lyleen is the single best body you can put on a farm because Planting 7 and Gathering 6 covers two of the three required jobs, leaving you only a waterer to find — that's one slot saved on every plot. Lyleen Noct swaps the planting for Medicine Production 7, so it's the pick if your base is also brewing medical supplies. Venusa is the sleeper: rank 6 on a Small frame at 6 food, with Handiwork 6 attached and no alpha to beat — just 26 spawn points to find. All three sit far below the legendaries in rarity and cost roughly two-thirds as much to feed.

Best Gathering Pals You Can Catch Early

Below rank 6 the ladder stops mattering much and availability takes over, and one Pal dominates the whole conversation. Omascul is Gathering 5 with no other suitability at all, a Small footprint, 5 food a meal, and 1,621 spawn points — the second-highest count of any Gathering Pal in the game. You will trip over them, they never get pulled to a different station, and one handbook puts them at rank 6, which is Ancient Farm legal. Three Omascul is a complete harvest crew for the price of three captures. After that, look at what else the body does: Shaolong carries Watering 8 alongside Gathering 5, so it covers two farm jobs on its own, and Tropicaw pairs Gathering 5 with Planting 5 for the same reason at a fraction of the food. Avoid Gildane and Roujay if your Feed Box is thin — both eat 8.

Clovee Gives Your Whole Base +1 Gathering

This is the trick that makes the rest of the page cheaper. Clovee is a rarity 2 XS Pal with Gathering 1 and a partner skill called Happy Clover — while it sits in a base, every other Pal stationed there works at one Gathering rank higher. Park it next to three Omascul and all three harvest as rank 6 workers, which is the same result as three Applied Gathering Handbooks for the cost of one capture. Clovee eats 1 food — the lowest figure of any Pal on this page — so the buff costs you almost nothing to keep running. It appears at 60 spawn points, concentrated at the Rayne Syndicate Tower Entrance (25), Small Settlement (13) and Desolate Church (12); the Clovee spawn map has all of them. Every other base job has an equivalent, and the full partner skill list shows which Pal carries which.

Handbooks, Passives, and the Flower Bed

Three different stacks speed up a harvest and they do not overlap, so a fully tuned plot uses all three. The handbook raises one Pal's Gathering affinity by +1 forever and is the only way past a Pal's natural ceiling — 300 Dog Coins at the Medal Shop is the reliable route, since the supply-drop and chest odds are miserable (fire-sealed chests in the World Tree are the best of them at 3.3%). Work-speed passives raise how fast that Pal finishes any station cycle, and Remarkable Craftsmanship at +75% is the biggest one you can breed onto a harvester. The Flower Bed is the one people forget: one placement lifts gathering speed for the entire base, it costs nothing to run, and the game states plainly that a second one adds nothing, so build exactly one and stop.

Best Pals for Gathering Resources Yourself

Base harvesters and field-gathering partners are two different lists, and the second one has nothing to do with work suitability at all. Three partner skills raise what you pull out of nodes and plots while the Pal is summoned. Astegon has the biggest gathering multiplier in the game at +150% rising to +300%, and it stacks a monstrous mining bonus on top — its saddle unlocks at tech level 39, which is early enough to matter. Smokie is the budget version at +100% to +200%, but it's also one of the most common Pals in the game at 1,620 spawn points, so most players have one before they know it's useful. On the crop side, Lullu speeds up how fast plants grow and Prunelia raises how much each harvest pays out — neither is a strong worker, but Prunelia turns up at 638 spawn points and costs 5 food to keep.

How to Staff a Plantation

A plot is three jobs, not one — Planting sows the seed, Watering keeps it alive, Gathering pulls it out — and a plantation missing any one of them sits there forever. Every standard plot accepts rank 1 in all three, so your starting roster qualifies; what changes with rank is throughput. The work column below is the real staffing number: Red Berries finish in 3 minutes for 13,500 work, while Onion takes barely twice as long but costs 63,000, so an onion plot keeps roughly five times as many worker-seconds busy per harvest even though both pay out 10 units. Put your fastest harvesters on the late-tier plots and leave berries to whatever is spare. Corn and Pumpkin are the outliers at 7,500 work — the lightest load in the game — but they have no standalone plot, so they only grow in the Ancient Farm.

Every plot costs 2 Technology Points, and all seven together come to 14 — the Ancient Farm replaces the lot for 4. Full build materials and the floor-stacking layout that fits all seven into one camp are in the plantation stacking guide; growth times and yields for every crop live on the farming page. Before you commit bodies, run your box through the work suitability optimizer — it's easy to end up with four harvesters and nobody watering.

TipThe cheapest rank 6 harvest crew in the game is not a legendary at all — it's three Omascul at rank 5 with one Clovee parked in the same base for its +1 Gathering aura. Omascul sits at 1,621 spawn points and eats 5 food, Clovee eats 1, and that four-Pal setup legally staffs an Ancient Farm without ever fighting a level 70 alpha.
