Palworld Duplication Glitch: Is It Patched and What Changed — Palworld Database

The Palworld duplication glitch was a base-building exploit that let players put structures down without ever paying for them, and version 1.0.3 killed it. This guide covers what the trick actually did, exactly which patch closed it, and the fastest honest ways to stockpile the Wood, Stone, Ore and Paldium Fragment it used to conjure.

Duplication Glitch Status at a Glance

Short version: it does not work anymore. The exploit lived in the base-building system rather than in your inventory, and it was closed on August 12, 2026 as part of the 1.0.3 update, which went out on every platform at once. If you came here hoping for free materials, the farming sections further down are the answer that still works — and those are not getting patched.

What the Duplication Glitch Did

It was never a classic inventory dupe, which is why the clips looked strange. The trick sat in the placement step instead: unfinished structures lined up along the edge of a base could be committed while the build menu was still settling, and the cost never came off your stack. Because dismantling a structure hands its materials back, every cycle finished with more resources than it started with — the refund was real even though the payment never happened.

Wooden pillars were the piece of choice for an obvious reason: they are the cheapest thing in the game to spam. Every core piece of the starter wooden set costs the same 2 Wood and sits at technology level 2, so setting the loop up cost nothing and its output scaled purely with how fast you could repeat it.

Those numbers are also why losing the glitch costs you very little. At 2 Wood a piece, a full wooden base runs a couple of hundred Wood total, which is a rounding error against the 4,654 tree nodes marked on the map's Lumber layer. Gates, fences and the reinforced pieces run higher, but nothing in the starter set is expensive enough to be worth cheating for.

Is the Duplication Glitch Patched?

Yes, and there is no version of the game left where it survives. The 1.0.3 fix list includes the item duplication bug that certain actions were triggering, so the loop simply fails now. Two things also make sitting on an old build impractical: console updates are not optional, and dedicated servers refuse clients running a different version, which our server update guide covers. In practice, the only saves still holding duplicated stock are the ones that farmed it before August 12.

The same patch closed a second economy exploit worth knowing about. Katress' partner skill, Mystical Black Magic, recovers used spheres at a rate between 10% and 50% depending on its rank, and swapping the skill while mounted was letting players choose which sphere type came back — effectively free high-tier spheres. Both fixes belong to the same category: mechanics that were printing resources out of nothing.

Where Those Materials Actually Come From

The glitch was only ever a shortcut around four or five materials, and every one of them is among the most common things on Palpagos. Stone has more marked nodes than any other resource in the game at 12,443 between full rocks and small ones. The genuinely tight one is Paldium Fragment — 711 nodes feeding 227 craftable recipes — which is why running dry on Paldium stings in a way that running dry on Wood never does.

Wood: Two Deer Do It Better Than You Can

63 Pals carry a Lumbering rating, but the top of the scale is basically one family. Celesdir Noct is the single best logger at Lumbering 8, and the base Celesdir sits one rank behind at 7 while being much easier to get hold of — that is the one most bases should start with. Park either on a Logging Site with chests in range and a hauler assigned, and Wood stops being a thing you think about. Bastigor is the value pick if you are short on base slots, since Cooling 8 and Mining 5 come along with the Lumbering.

Stone, Ore and Coal: One Mining Team Covers All Three

Mining is the efficient stat here, because rock, ore and coal nodes all break to the same rating — one team handles every mineral the glitch used to fake. 57 Pals can mine, and Aegidron is the only one that reaches Mining 8. Astegon and Blazamut follow at 7, but the smart slot is Knocklem: Mining 7 and Transporting 7 on the same Pal means the ore it breaks also gets carried to the chest, which is normally a second worker's job.

Blazamut7Kindling 6Mines and runs your furnaces, so ore to Ingot never stalls

Anubis6Handiwork 6, Transporting 4The all-rounder if your base only has room for one heavy worker

Paldium: 711 Nodes and Nothing Else Like It

Paldium Ore is the tightest of the group — 711 nodes against Stone's 12,443 — and it is the material most likely to be the actual reason someone went looking for a dupe, since 227 craftable recipes want it, spheres included. Mining Pals break Paldium nodes exactly like rock, so no special team is needed; the constraint is node count, not labour. The blue glow near shorelines and riverbanks is the tell, and the Paldium Ore layer marks every one of them, so it is worth siting a base where a cluster of them sits inside the build radius.

Build Cheap Instead of Duping

The other half of the answer is that Palworld's building sets were never expensive to begin with. Using each set's pillar as the yardstick, a wooden piece is 2 Wood at technology level 2 and an Ancient piece is 2 Soralite Ingot at level 67 — the quantity barely moves across 65 levels of progression. What changes is where the material comes from, not how much of it you need. Gates, fences and doors cost a little more inside each set, so read the pillar as the floor rather than the flat rate, and check our base building guide for the full per-piece breakdown.

TipIf your base was built on duplicated materials before the patch, nothing appears to be clawed back — 1.0.3 stops new duplication rather than auditing old saves. On a shared world it is still worth a word with whoever hosts it, because a server rollback for any reason takes that stock with it.

So Is There Any Dupe Left in Palworld 1.0?

Not one that works. The building exploit is patched and the Katress sphere trick is patched, both in the same version, so there is no half-updated state where one of them survives while the other doesn't. That is less painful than it sounds, because the legitimate route in 1.0 is genuinely quick: a Mining team plus a Logging Site covers every material the glitch produced, and a base parked on the right node cluster keeps filling chests while you are off doing something else. If you want the fastest single-material routes, our ore farming guide and the Lumbering rankings are the two to read next.
