How to Get Egg: Chikipi Ranch, Drops, and Recipes

Egg is the base cooking ingredient behind everything from a lazy Fried Egg to the Cake your Breeding Farm runs on, and exactly one Pal in the game makes it. This guide covers the Ranch setup that farms eggs on autopilot, where to find that Pal, what merchants charge, and all 12 recipes that consume eggs.

Egg Stats and Sources

Egg is a common food item that restores 16 Hunger raw — slightly better than Red Berries at 15, and not worth eating when a single egg cooked into a Fried Egg gets you 23 instead. At 0.5 weight and a 9,999 stack cap it costs you nothing to hoard, which is the right move because the late-game cake recipes eat eggs 8 and 15 at a time.

How to Get Egg

There are three ways to get eggs, and they are not equal. A Ranch with Chikipi on it is the only method that scales — the other two are for topping up when you're short mid-recipe. Hunting wild Chikipi is fine before you've unlocked base building, and merchants are the emergency option when you need a handful right now and don't want to fly home.

Build a Ranch and Assign Chikipi

The Ranch unlocks at Technology level 5 and costs 30 Wood, 20 Stone and 30 Fiber — cheap enough that there is no reason to delay it. Drop it in your base, assign a Chikipi, and it produces eggs on its own with no input from you. Chikipi's Egg Layer partner skill is what makes this work; a Pal without a ranch skill assigned to the same structure produces nothing.

Chikipi is also the cheapest worker you will ever park on a Ranch. It eats 1 food per meal — the lowest bracket in the game — against 2 for Mozzarina and 3 for Beegarde, so a pen of Chikipi barely dents your food box while it prints ingredients. It only has Farming rank 1, but ranch output doesn't care about work rank the way an ore node does, so a low rank costs you nothing here.

Those three are the whole cake supply chain, which is why most players end up running all of them side by side. Chikipi is by far the easiest of the trio to stock — it appears at more than twice as many spots as Mozzarina and over six times as many as Beegarde. Defeat or Catch Wild Chikipi

Every wild Chikipi drops 1 Egg at a 100% rate, plus 1 Chikipi Poultry, so nothing is wasted when you clear a flock. Chikipi is Paldex #3, Neutral element, 60 HP and completely harmless, so this works from your first hour on the map with nothing but a stone club. It's also tied with Lamball and Cattiva for the highest capture rate in the game at 1.5, meaning the cheapest Pal Spheres catch it reliably — catch a few rather than killing them all and your Ranch does the rest.

Buy Eggs from Merchants

Eggs sit on the shelf at 200 Gold each at Wandering Merchants, village shops, caravan traders and the merchants tucked inside dungeons. Stock is not limited, so this is a legitimate way to fund a big baking session if you're rich — but a Cake needs 8 eggs, which is 1,600 Gold per breeding attempt, and a Special Cake would run 3,000 Gold in eggs alone. Buy to top off a recipe, not as a farming plan. Every trader stocking it is listed on the Palworld merchant inventory list.

Where to Find Chikipi

Chikipi has 274 spawn points on the map and it spawns at all of them both day and night, so there is no timing trick to learn here — you can farm it on any schedule. It clusters hard in the starting grasslands, and the three areas below hold nearly half of every Chikipi spawn between them.

Hill of Beginnings is the fast travel point you spawn at when you start the game, so the very first area you walk through is already a viable egg farm. Grassy Behemoth Hills is the better round trip once you have a mount because the terrain is open and flat. All 12 Recipes That Use Eggs

Twelve dishes call for eggs, and they split cleanly into two groups: cheap 1-2 egg meals you cook to stay fed, and the four cakes that swallow 8-15 eggs each. Among the meals, Mushroom Quiche is the best value at 184 Hunger and 23 SAN for 2 eggs, with Eikthyrdeer Loco Moco right behind it at 174 for a much simpler ingredient list. Fried Egg is the one to make early — one egg, no other ingredients, and it turns 16 Hunger into 23.

You'll want a Milk and Flour supply before touching the bottom half of this table. Cooking happens at the Campfire early on, the Cooking Pot from Technology 17, and the Electric Kitchen from 41 once you're running a powered base.

Eggs Are What Gate Your Breeding

This is the real reason to build an egg farm. The Breeding Farm unlocks at Technology level 19 and needs a cake sitting in its chest before a pair will produce anything — no cake, no egg, no exceptions. Four of the five cakes need Chikipi eggs, so your breeding throughput is capped by how many eggs you can make per hour, not by how many Pals you've paired up.

Baking one of each egg-based cake costs 39 eggs. A serious breeding session chasing passives on Special Cake burns 15 eggs per attempt, and even ten plain Cakes is 80 eggs — numbers that a single Chikipi will never keep up with. Extravagant Vegetable Cake is the one exception: it's the only cake with no eggs in it, running on Cotton Candy and vegetables instead.
