Best Player Builds in 1.0: Combat, Fishing, Exploration Gear
What are the best player builds in Palworld 1.0? Full gear loadouts, accessories and five-Pal teams for combat, fishing, exploration and the early game, with stats, recipes and unlock levels.
A Palworld player build is three things stacked together: the gear on your character, the accessories in your two ring slots, and the five Pals riding in your party whose partner skills buff you just by being there. This guide lays out the best player builds for combat, fishing, exploration and the early game in 1.0 — every piece with its stats, what it costs to craft, and the level it unlocks at.
Best Player Builds at a Glance
Three of the four builds share the same late-game armor, because nothing in the game out-tanks the Ancient set and a fishing trip into the World Tree still gets you jumped. What actually changes between them is the weapon slot and, much more, the party. If you are under level 68 none of the endgame loadouts are open to you yet, so start with the early game row and grow into the rest.
| Build | Main weapon | Body armor | Key Pal | Fully online at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Combat | Anubis | Lv. 79 | ||
| Fishing | Advanced Fishing Rod (Depresso) | Jelliette | Lv. 71 (Whalaska Ignis saddle) | |
| Exploration | Ultra Grappling Gun | Eidrolon Ignis | Lv. 76 (saddle) | |
| Early game | Any fighter | Lv. 13-29 |
Best Combat Build
The combat build is about you doing the damage rather than your summoned Pal. Two ranged weapons carry it, the heaviest armor in the game keeps you standing, and four of your five party slots go to Pals whose partner skills raise your own attack without ever being summoned. It is the loadout for Palworld endgame raids, tower rematches and hunting in the World Tree.
Combat Equipment
The Drone Launcher deploys up to nine autonomous drones, so it keeps working while you swap to the Plasma Rifle, whose shots chain electricity to nearby enemies. Carry both: the second weapon slot comes from the Extra Weapon Holster, a Lv. 27 boss tech that costs just 20 Wooden Boards, 30 Fiber and 20 Leather. Pick Lightweight Ancient Armor over the plain version once you hit level 79 — it adds 40 Defense and a carry weight bonus, which matters because Plasma Rifle Ammo eats 3 Paloxite Ingots, 2 Soralite Ingots and a Bio Battery per round.
| Slot | Gear | Key stats | Unlock |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weapon 1 | 200 Attack, up to 9 drones | Tech Lv. 77 (4 points) | |
| Weapon 2 | 1,860 Attack, 38-round magazine | Tech Lv. 78 (5 points) | |
| Head | 500 Defense, +1,200 HP, Neutral and Dragon resist | Tech Lv. 68 | |
| Body | 840 Defense, +2,400 HP, extra carry weight | Tech Lv. 79 | |
| Shield | 2,200 shield, self-repairs | Tech Lv. 71 | |
| Accessory | Greatly raises your Attack and your active Pal's | Sunreach Isle chest schematic | |
| Accessory | Greatly raises Defense and Health | Sunreach Isle chest schematic | |
| Key item | 5 auto-eat food slots | Tech Lv. 47 | |
| Glider | Powered flight, burns Wing Cells | Tech Lv. 80 boss tech (9 points) |
For the accessory pair, the Dogen Emblem is the default because it buffs both you and the Pal you have out. Swap the belt for the Silvegis Emblem if you want defense on your Pal too, or drop to an Attack Pendant while you are still hunting the emblem schematics — all three emblem schematics come from Sunreach Isle treasure chests, and the odds are low (about 2.4% per chest in Sunreach Skies). The full slot list lives in List of All Accessories.
Legendary vs Base Weapons
Both weapons scale with schematic rarity, so a Legendary copy is a real upgrade rather than a cosmetic one. Compare each weapon only against itself here: the Drone Launcher's number is per drone and sits in a different class from a rifle's per-shot damage, so 240 vs 2,232 says nothing about which hits harder overall.
| Stat | Drone Launcher (base) | Drone Launcher (Legendary) | Plasma Rifle (base) | Plasma Rifle (Legendary) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Attack | 200 | 240 | 1,860 | 2,232 |
| Magazine | — | — | 38 | 46 |
| Durability | 6,500 | 26,000 | 25,000 | 100,000 |
The durability jump is the part that saves you materials: a Legendary Drone Launcher lasts four times as long between repairs, and repairs on it cost World Tree Holy Water. See Drone Launcher Legendary Schematic for where to find it.
Combat Team
Keep Anubis as your active Pal: summoned, it turns your attacks Ground, and its partner skill scales from 30% up to 50% at ☆4. Ground is the counter to Electric, so swap it for another converter when the target changes — the full list is in Pals That Change Attack Element. The other four sit in the party and buff you passively. Solenne is the biggest single number here, reaching 80% at ☆4 as long as no two party Pals share a species.
| Role | Pal | Partner skill | What it gives you | Live when |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Active | Anubis | Guardian of the Desert | Ground-element attacks; 30% → 50% | Summoned |
| Support | Solenne | Untainted Maiden | Player attack 30% → 80% | In party, no duplicate species |
| Support | Xenogard | Unknown Intruder | Equipped weapon damage 10% → 35% | Saddle (tech Lv. 41) |
| Support | Cryolinx Terra | Explosive Strength | Weak-point hit damage 30% → 60% | In party |
| Support | Vanwyrm Cryst | Aerial Marauder | Weak body-part damage 30% → 50% | Saddle (tech Lv. 22) |
Passives on these Pals should push your numbers, not theirs. Four are worth rolling for on the support slots, and the active Anubis wants raw power on top.
| Passive | Effect | Best on |
|---|---|---|
| Vanguard | Player Attack +10% | Any support slot |
| Stronghold Strategist | Player Defense +10% | Any support slot |
| Reload Master | Player reload speed +4% | Support slot, rifle users |
| Idiosyncratic | Auto health regen +50%, Defense +25%, poison and burn immunity for you and the Pal | Any slot |
| God of Destruction | Attack +40%, Defense +20%, Max Health -50% | Active Anubis |
| Serenity | Active skill cooldown -30%, Attack +10% | Active Anubis |
Best Fishing Build
Fishing gear is mostly the rod and the bait; everything else is there to keep you alive at the spot. The Advanced Fishing Rod (Depresso) is the top rod, but it only comes from a schematic, and one reliable source is the sea base enemy camp boss stash in the Snowfields, which carries it every time. Until then the Advanced Fishing Rod (Pengullet) unlocks at tech Lv. 45. Pair either with Alluring Bait (Lv. 52), which widens the minigame bar. The map tracks 367 fishing spots and 102 rare ones on the main island, plus 55 and 22 inside the World Tree — open them on the fishing spot map.
| Slot | Gear | What it does | Unlock / recipe |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rod | Advanced Fishing Rod (Depresso) | Best rod in the game | Schematic; 140 Paldium, 30 Pal Metal Ingot, 20 HQ Pal Oil, 20 Carbon Fiber, 5 Coralum Ingot |
| Rod (alt) | Advanced Fishing Rod (Pengullet) | Tech-tree version | Tech Lv. 45 |
| Bait | Bigger minigame bar | Tech Lv. 52; 10 HQ Pal Oil, 1 Cavern Mushroom, 3 Carrot, 5 Flour | |
| Head | 500 Defense, +1,200 HP | Tech Lv. 68 | |
| Body | 800 Defense, +2,400 HP | Tech Lv. 68 | |
| Shield | 2,200 shield | Tech Lv. 71 |
Fishing Team
Four party Pals each fix a different part of a cast, so none of them overlap. Jelliette is the easy win because it works the moment you catch it and adds up to 95% extra item and Pal drops. Whalaska Ignis and Solmora Lux are the late unlocks, gated behind their saddles. Ride Jetragon between spots — it is the fastest flyer in the game, and Swift plus Eternal Engine make hops even quicker. More detail in Best Fishing Team.
| Role | Pal | Partner skill | Fishing effect | Live when |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Active / mount | Jetragon | Aerial Missile | Fastest travel between spots | Tech Lv. 79 missile launcher |
| Support | Jelliette | Jelliette Drop | Extra item and Pal drops 55% → 95% | In party |
| Support | Gloopie | Sticky Princess | Bar drains 12% → 35% less on a miss | In party |
| Support | Whalaska Ignis | Cozy Whale Cruiser | Starts and fills the gauge 7% → 17% faster | Saddle (tech Lv. 71) |
| Support | Solmora Lux | Shocking Fish | 74% → 82% odds of a high-stat catch | Saddle (tech Lv. 66) |
The Jetragon passives worth chasing are Dimensional Leap (movement speed +50% and World Tree resources stop vanishing), Eternal Engine (max stamina +75% on mounts) and Swift (+30% movement speed). Condense the four support Pals before anything else, since every partner skill value in the table climbs with each star.
Best Exploration Build
Exploration keeps the combat gear, because you still have to fight whatever is guarding the loot, and adds tools. The Ultra Grappling Gun gets you up cliffs your glider can't, and a Metal Detector (tech Lv. 58) marks hidden Chromite in dungeons. Swap the Drone Launcher out for a Sphere Launcher if the trip is about catching rather than clearing. Wear Lightweight Ancient Armor here more than anywhere — loot runs are where you hit the weight cap.
| Slot | Gear | Why bring it | Recipe |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Clears camps guarding chests | 80 Paloxite Ingot, 50 Bio Battery, 8 AI Core, 7 Ancient Civ. Core | |
| Tool | Ultra Grappling Gun | Vertical movement on cliffs | 100 Paldium, 30 Coralum Ingot, 50 Carbon Fiber, 50 Polymer, 10 Ancient Civ. Parts |
| Tool | Reveals hidden Chromite in dungeons | 30 Plasteel, 100 Paldium, 15 Computer, 20 Nightstar Sand | |
| Body | Extra carry weight for loot | 30 Paloxite Ingot, 7 AI Core, 50 Corrosive Solvent | |
| Glider | Powered flight between points | 30 Paldium, 6 Paloxite Ingot, 20 AI Core, 20 Thermal Core, 10 Ancient Civ. Core |
Exploration Team
This team turns every chest you pass into a chest you can open. A fully condensed Mimog handles locked chests without keys, and there are 109 elemental-sealed chests on the elemental chest map that need the right element in your party — Eidrolon Ignis (Dragon/Fire) and Penking Lux (Water/Electric) cover four elements between them. The last two slots are egg Pals, which pay off on a route through all egg locations.
| Role | Pal | Partner skill | What it gives you | Live when |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Active / mount | Eidrolon Ignis | Resentful Pterosaur | Fast flying mount; small ranged attack and move speed boost | Saddle (tech Lv. 76) |
| Support | Mimog | Master of Unlocking | Opens locked chests without keys | In party, condensed |
| Support | Penking Lux | Unyielding Storm Commander | Water and Electric for sealed chests; Water weakness damage 25% → 40% | In party |
| Support | Grintale | Glaring Cat's Eye | 50% → 75% chance of an extra egg | Saddle (tech Lv. 19) |
| Support | Broncherry Aqua | Purity's Full Bloom | 45% → 55% chance an egg hatches as an Alpha | Saddle (tech Lv. 44) |
If you are exploring to fight rather than loot, drop the two egg Pals for Solenne and Xenogard from the combat team. Give Eidrolon Ignis the same travel passives as the fishing Jetragon: Dimensional Leap, Eternal Engine and Swift.
Best Early Game Build
Early on, the Crossbow is the weapon to build around — it unlocks at Lv. 13, hits for 280 per bolt and costs only wood, stone, 10 Ingots and 2 Nails. Pair it with Metal armor at Lv. 23 and a Giga Shield at Lv. 29. Once you can clear Terraria content, the Hallowed set outclasses Metal for its level, and the Terraprisma becomes a strong melee backup. How to Get Terraria Items covers the route.
| Slot | Gear | Key stats | Unlock |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weapon | 280 Attack | Tech Lv. 13 | |
| Weapon (mid) | 90 Attack (melee) | Terraria chest schematic; 40 Hallowed Bar | |
| Head | 50 Defense, +100 HP | Tech Lv. 23 | |
| Body | 70 Defense, +250 HP | Tech Lv. 23 | |
| Body (mid) | 200 Defense, +650 HP | Terraria chest schematic; 20 Hallowed Bar | |
| Shield | 540 shield | Tech Lv. 29 | |
| Accessory | Multiclimate Undershirt | Heat and cold resistance | Schematic |
| Accessory | Your hits never drop a target below 1 HP | Sunreach Isle chest schematic |
The Multiclimate Undershirt is the accessory to prioritize, since it stops temperature damage in both hot and cold biomes and saves you swapping armor. Pal Tamer's Glasses are the catcher's pick — you can't accidentally kill a Pal you are weakening. Don't compare the Crossbow and Terraprisma attack numbers; one is a ranged bolt and the other is a melee swing.
Where to Spend Status Points
Gear does most of the work in every build above, which is why stat points should go to Weight and Stamina first rather than Attack — each Attack point adds just 2, while your weapon tier dwarfs that. The full priority and spreads are in Best Stats to Level Up.
Summary
Fight with a Drone Launcher and Plasma Rifle in Ancient armor, with Anubis out and Solenne, Xenogard, Cryolinx Terra and Vanwyrm Cryst buffing you from the party. Fish with the Depresso rod, Alluring Bait and Jelliette, Gloopie, Whalaska Ignis and Solmora Lux. Explore on Eidrolon Ignis with Mimog and Penking Lux for chests. Before level 68, a Crossbow, Metal armor and a Multiclimate Undershirt carry you.
