Prototype Shotgun Schematic Location and Stats

Where every Prototype Shotgun schematic drops in Palworld — the Sky Island chests, caches, camps, fishing and tier 5 treasure maps that carry all four tiers, the 1,167 Base Attack and 6,000 durability stat card, and the full 220 Soralite craft.

Prototype Shotgun Schematic Location and Stats — Palworld Database

The Prototype Shotgun is the Sunreach-tier scattergun: 1,167 Base Attack across a 12-round magazine, which is more than double the hardest-hitting shotgun below it. This guide covers the full stat card, every source that can hand you each of the four schematic tiers, what one craft actually costs in raw materials, and the Drafting Table route if the chests never cooperate.

It also has one quirk worth knowing before you plan a farm. Unlike the other Sky Island weapons, the Prototype Shotgun's schematics are not in the Sky Island supply drop pool at all — no tier of it, at any percentage. That changes the whole hunt, and it's the first thing this guide sorts out.

Prototype Shotgun Stats

This is a Sky Island weapon end to end: it unlocks at Technology Lv 69, it's built at the Ancient Workbench, and its recipe is Soralite by the sixty. The headline is 1,167 Base Attack, but the number that actually separates it from everything else in the class is 6,000 durability — over six times the next-toughest shotgun in the game. Attack values only mean anything against weapons of the same class, so read 1,167 as a shotgun figure and not something to line up next to a rifle.

The in-game description sells it on overwhelming close-range firepower with a special magazine for sustained combat, and the stat line backs both halves up. Twelve rounds is the joint-largest magazine of any shotgun that isn't the Beam Scatter, and 6,000 durability means you can run it as your primary for an entire Sunreach clear instead of babying it. The one real cost is the 3,500,000 crafting work — park your best Handiwork Pals on it and go do something else.

Where the Legendary Schematic Drops

Every tier lives in Sky Island content and nowhere else. There is no merchant selling them, no expedition that pays one out, no boss with one on their table — and, unusually for a Sunreach weapon, no supply drop line either. The Heavy Assault Rifle, Tactical Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher and Ancient Armor lines all sit in the Sky Island drop pool with published percentages; the Prototype Shotgun does not appear in it once. That means there is no odds number to chase here — only places to be.

Read the last column, because it's the only row-to-row difference in the whole table. Schematic 1 is the one tier that tier 5 treasure map digs can't produce — everything above it can. That's the opposite of a problem: it means every tier 5 map you dig is rolling exclusively on the three tiers you actually want, with the common one filtered out of the pool. Every schematic in the game uses the same rolled-scroll model in your bag, so the four icons above are each tier's own art, which is the only way to tell them apart at a glance.

Sky Island Chests, Caches and Enemy Camps

With no supply-drop lottery to sit under, the farm is a route. The good news is that the static sources are countable: there are only 76 treasure chests on the whole of Sunreach, which is short enough to run as an actual circuit and reset. The 574 loot caches are the volume source — they're the ordinary containers you crack while walking between the treasure chests, and they carry all four tiers too. Enemy camp loot is the third leg, and it's the one people leave half-finished by looting the tents and skipping the boss stash at the end.

The fishing row is the one most players never test. Both ordinary Sunreach fishing spots and the rare treasure spots carry the schematic line, and the same casts pay 18-29 [[item:SkyIslandOre|Soralite]] in junk hauls on top — which is the exact material the finished gun eats by the hundred. The counts above are map-wide totals for those layers, so filter to the Sky Island ones; the fishing database has the full catch tables and the fishing guide covers which rod tiers are worth it. Between a 76-chest circuit, 574 caches and a rod left in the water, this is a farm you run while gathering rather than a lottery you camp.

Build It Instead: The Drafting Table Route

Because there's no percentage to grind against, the Drafting Table matters more on this weapon than on any other Sunreach gun. It unlocks at Technology Lv 45 for 4 Technology Points and combines five identical schematics into one of the next rarity up, and the Prototype Shotgun line supports every step of the ladder with no gaps. Schematic 1 is the tier that floods in from caches and camps, so the realistic path to a Legendary here is arithmetic rather than luck.

TargetCombine costEquivalent in Schematic 1s
Schematic 2Schematic 15
Schematic 3Schematic 225
Schematic 4 (Legendary)Schematic 3125

125 Schematic 1s is the paper worst case and nobody pays it, because Schematics 2 and 3 drop on their own from the same chests and from tier 5 maps. The mistake to avoid is combining from the bottom the instant you can — climb one rung at a time and only when you're holding five of the *highest* tier you own, or you'll convert away the Schematic 3s you needed. The schematic upgrade guide has the full combine rules, including the lines that have no recipe at all. Build cost for the table itself is 20 Refined Ingot, 10 High Quality Wooden Board and 30 Charcoal — trivial by the time you're on Sunreach.

TipCraft the Uncommon version the day you hit Tech 69 instead of holding out. Every tier of this line builds a working Prototype Shotgun firing the same twelve rounds — rarity only moves the numbers — and the materials bill is identical either way, so the schematic tier you use costs you nothing extra. Bank the duplicates for the Drafting Table and keep shooting in the meantime.

How to Craft the Prototype Shotgun

Whichever schematic tier you're holding, the recipe is the same four materials at the Ancient Workbench for 3,500,000 work. Nothing in it is a field pickup — every line is a processed material with its own station and its own tech node behind it, and the bench itself can't be used by you at all. It's Pal-operated, and it wants Pals with high-level Handiwork and Medicine Production suitability to run at a sensible speed.

The AI Core row is where the real bill hides, and it's easy to under-budget. Five of them quietly add 50 more Soralite Ingots, 10 more Thermal Cores, 25 Computers and 5 Ancient Civilization Cores on top of what the gun itself lists — nearly doubling the ore requirement before you've smelted anything. Trace the whole tree down to things you pick up or mine and one Prototype Shotgun works out to:

440 combined Soralite-and-quartz pulls is the wall, and it's why the expedition board beats swinging a pickaxe at 226 nodes. Sunreach Isle is a Hard 60-minute run paying 30-50 Soralite a trip and the Very Hard Sunreach Dragon Husk adds 10-20 more; queue both while you're out doing anything else. One more honest warning about the Computer row: if you're building those 25 from scratch rather than pulling them out of storage, they drag in another 100 Carbon Fiber through their own Bio Batteries — which is 500 more Charcoal and 100 more Flame Organ on top of everything above. Stockpile Computers early.

Fastest Flame Organ Farm

100 Flame Organs is the line that catches people out, because it's split across two materials — 40 from the Carbon Fiber and 60 from the Thermal Cores — so it never looks like a hundred until you're short. Every Pal below drops them at a flat 100%, so this is pure kills-per-minute. Ragnahawk is the practical pick by a distance: 5-7 a kill and 150 spawn spots, more than every other entry here combined, and it's a flying mount you'll be riding around Mount Obsidian anyway.

PalFlame Organs per killDrop rateSpawn spotsWhy bring it
Ragnahawk5-7100%150The route pick — most spawns in the game and a flying mount
Blazamut10100%16Flat ten every kill, the highest single payout — but rare on the map
Suzaku5-10100%13Best average per kill; a legendary spawn, so treat it as a bonus
Reptyro5-7100%22Same rate as Ragnahawk, far fewer spots
Pyrin4-5100%93Second-most spawns; the fallback when Ragnahawk's zone is picked clean
Blazehowl3-5100%56Lowest rate here, but easy to find and easy to kill

Blazamut and Suzaku pay the most per body and are the wrong answer anyway — 16 and 13 spawn points respectively means you'll spend longer flying between them than a Ragnahawk loop takes end to end. Run Ragnahawk, top up with Pyrin, and take the big two whenever they happen to be in front of you. The 30 Venom Glands for the Corrosive Solvent are a smaller problem: merchants sell them at 300 Gold each, so the entire requirement is 9,000 Gold if you'd rather not hunt at all.

Can You Even Build It Yet?

Technology Lv 69 is the headline number, but it isn't what stops people. Six separate crafting stations sit between you and a finished shotgun, and the two that matter — the Ancient Furnace and the Ancient Workbench — are heavy builds in their own right. Work down this list before you go schematic hunting, because a Legendary schematic in your bag does absolutely nothing until the bench exists to use it.

The genuine gate is the Ancient Workbench at Lv 67, because it demands 5 AI Cores just to exist — which means the Advanced Workshop, 25 more Soralite Ingots and 5 Ancient Civilization Cores are already behind you before the shotgun is even on the menu. Six Technology Points at Lv 69 covers the gun and its ammo together, and both are ordinary Technology Points. The last row is the exception: the Soralite Quarry costs 7 of the Ancient kind you pry out of tower bosses, but it produces Soralite inside your base, which permanently ends the 220-ore problem. The full tree is on the technology page.

How It Compares to Every Other Shotgun

Ranked on raw attack the Prototype Shotgun isn't close to anything — 1,167 is 2.3× the [[item:WidePenetrateShotgun|Beam Scatter]], which is the next-highest and arrives six tech levels later. Rank the class on damage per magazine instead and the picture flips slightly: the Beam Scatter's 30 rounds edge it 15,240 to 14,004. Then look at the durability column, where it isn't a contest at all. These are all shotgun-class numbers and only comparable to each other.

ShotgunTechBase AttackMagazineDurabilityDamage per magazine
Prototype Shotgun691,167126,00014,004
Beam Scatter755083095015,240

Makeshift Shotgun302151200215
Semi-Auto Shotgun47195103001,950
Double-Barreled Shotgun391902200380

So the pick between the top two is about what you're doing rather than which is stronger. The Beam Scatter wins a single sustained magazine dump and is the better answer against a boss health bar you can stand in front of. The Prototype Shotgun wins everything else: it hits harder per trigger pull, which is what matters when a target dies in two shots, it arrives six tech levels earlier, and at 6,000 durability against 950 it survives a whole Sunreach run where the Beam Scatter needs repairing. It's also the cheaper of the two to feed, since Beam Scatter Ammo wants Paloxite Ingot from the World Tree tier. Where each sits in the wider order is on the gun tier list and the tech-level upgrade path.

What a Legendary Version Actually Gains

Schematic rarity raises the crafted weapon's stats, and the Pump-Action Shotgun is the one shotgun whose five rarity tiers are laid out end to end: 220 → 275 → 308 → 352 → 385, which works out to ×1.25, ×1.4, ×1.6 and ×1.75 of base. Its magazine gains a round per tier (8 up to 12) and durability climbs 150 → 500 → 600 → 700 → 800. Pocketpair has never published the per-rarity multipliers and they aren't uniform across weapon families, so apply that in-class curve to 1,167 and treat the right-hand column as a close estimate rather than a printed number.

Rare30810600~1,634
Epic35211700~1,867
Legendary38512800~2,042

1,167 is the only certain number in that column. Taken at face value, a Legendary Prototype Shotgun lands near 2,042 a shot, which is roughly 24,500 damage per magazine on twelve rounds — comfortably past the Beam Scatter's 15,240 and into territory no other shotgun reaches. If the magazine also climbs a round per tier the way the Pump-Action's does, sixteen rounds would push that past 32,000, but there's no data on whether this line gains rounds at all, so don't budget for it. The Legendary is a genuine upgrade rather than a trophy either way.

Prototype Shotgun Ammo and Running Costs

A twelve-round magazine is only an advantage if you can feed it, and this is the part people underestimate. Prototype Shotgun Ammo costs 4 Soralite Ingots and 8 Gunpowder for a batch of ten, which traces back to 8 Soralite, 8 Pure Quartz, 32 Wood and 8 Sulfur per ten rounds. Firing this thing casually will eat your Sunreach ore faster than crafting the gun did.

There is one free tap worth knowing about: Sunreach Skies, the single Sky Island dungeon on the map, has Prototype Shotgun Ammo in its loot table alongside Sol Spheres, Ancient Spheres and Giant Pal Souls. Its enemies and bosses sit at level 65-69, which is exactly where you'll be when the gun unlocks, so a clear costs you nothing you weren't already spending. Open the Sky Island dungeon entrance and check the dungeon database for the full pool; everything else this ammo touches is on the ammo database.

The Short Answer

There's no percentage to farm — the Prototype Shotgun's schematics aren't in Sky Island supply drops, so run Sunreach instead. All four tiers sit in the 76 Sky Island treasure chests, the 574 loot caches, enemy camp loot and Sunreach fishing spots, and every tier above Schematic 1 also drops from tier 5 treasure map digs. Build the Uncommon version the moment you hit Tech Lv 69 so you're actually shooting something, bank duplicates, and finish the Legendary at the Drafting Table with five Schematic 3s. One shotgun costs 220 Soralite, 220 Pure Quartz, 120 Coal, 100 Flame Organ, 200 Charcoal, 30 each of Venom Gland, Sulfur, Chromite and Hexolite Quartz, 25 Computers and 5 Ancient Civilization Cores — queue the Sunreach expeditions early and farm Flame Organs off Ragnahawk.
